About
As a Staff Software Engineer in Test at Lokalise, you will play a key role in maintaining the highest quality standards for our software products and improving developer productivity. You will architect and drive the implementation of innovative testing solutions, mentor engineers across the organization, and influence our quality strategy at the highest levels. Your work will directly impact the reliability, scalability, productivity, and overall excellence of our products, reinforcing a culture where quality is a fundamental value shared by all.
You Will:
- Architect and Develop Test Frameworks: Design, build, select, and maintain test automation frameworks or leverage existing tools to meet a wide range of testing needs, including API, UI, integration, end-to-end, and performance testing.
- Lead Testing Strategy: Define and implement a comprehensive testing strategy that aligns with our engineering goals and enhances our continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline.
- Mentor and Guide Engineers: Act as a technical leader by mentoring software engineers in best practices for testing and quality assurance, fostering a culture of shared responsibility for product quality.
- Collaborate Cross-functionally: Work closely with software engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to identify risks early, design appropriate testing approaches, and ensure timely and effective resolution of defects.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to enhance testing processes, tools, and methodologies, constantly seeking opportunities for automation and developer productivity gains.
- Ensure Robust Documentation: Establish and maintain comprehensive documentation for testing frameworks, processes, and guidelines, ensuring clarity and consistency across the team.
- Analyze and Report: Monitor, analyze, and report on test outcomes, using data to drive decisions and improve testing effectiveness.
You Must Have:
- 7+ years of experience in test automation: Experience as a developer with proven expertise in designing and implementing test automation frameworks, preferably using modern programming languages such as JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Advanced experience with CI/CD automation: Proficient in integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines, with tools like Jenkins, Github Actions, Docker, Kubernetes, or similar.
- Expertise in Functional and Non-functional Testing: Deep understanding of various testing types, including regression, integration, performance, and security testing.
- Proficiency in API and Web Testing: Significant experience with testing RESTful APIs and web applications, using tools such as Playwright or Selenium.
- Experience with contract testing: Validating third-party integrations (e.g., Shopify), ensuring reliable and consistent communication with external services.
- Experience with Performance Testing Tools: Hands-on experience with performance testing tools such as Artillery, JMeter, or k6.
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Leadership and Mentorship Experience: Experience leading technical teams or mentoring engineers in test automation practices.
It’s a Plus If You Have:
- Exposure to Technical Leadership Roles: Proven experience in setting technical direction for teams, influencing engineering roadmaps, and driving large-scale quality initiatives.
- Experience with Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) and testing in cloud-native applications.
- Contributions to Open Source: Active contributions to open-source testing frameworks or tools.
