Job Summary:As a Staff Engineer at OpenGov, you'll modernize legacy product features, build new features and investigate customer reported issues to enable efficiency, transparency, and accountability within government agencies. You'll be a key member of our team that modernizes legacy systems using multiple technology stacks and languages like .NET, C#, ReactJS, TypeScript, GraphQL, and NodeJS. As a key technical leader, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive AI innovation, ensure engineering excellence, and integrate AI-powered solutions into real-world applications

Responsibilities:Provide leadership and technical guidance to foster a culture of high productivity and solid design principles.
Design, lead and contribute to modernizing complex applications involving various technologies like Java, PHP, ReactJS, BIRT, GraphQL and SQL.
Ownership and accountability for implementing features as per committed timelines, quality and performance standards using robust, highly performant, well-crafted code.
Troubleshoot, debug and resolve complex technical issues reported by internal stakeholders and customers.
Mentor engineers to build scalable, reusable and robust components based on strong engineering practices.
Left Shift QA by applying modern tooling including CI/CD practices, Observability and test driven design.
Partner with engineering leadership to define the technical strategy and roadmap.
Lead and influence ‘proof of concepts’ / prototypes for larger complex initiatives to alleviate unforeseen technical challenges.
Identify risks in planned delivery milestones and collaborate with engineering managers to mitigate the risks.
Collaborate with engineering managers and product managers for requirements, timelines, user acceptance and rollout.
Cultivate customer empathy to ensure that the solutions exceed customer expectations.
Contribute to OpenGov’s Engineering culture of innovation, leading-edge technology adoption, and quality.
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, advocating for their adoption where appropriate.
BE in a computer science or related field or MCA.
12+ years of professional experience in software design and development for enterprise applications / products, preferably with a cloud-native technology stack.
8+ years of experience in developing applications / products with .NET and C# as core technologies.
Proficiency with event-driven architecture (using Kafka, RabbitMQ etc), API integration, and relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, DB2 etc).
4+ years of working experience in GraphQL, ReactJS, TypeScript and NodeJS.
5+ years of professional experience with a modern cloud platform (AWS).
5+ years of experience in coaching and leading engineering teams for time-bound product development.
Working knowledge of designing, implementing, and maintaining APIs.
Deep understanding of build pipelines, version control tools, and upgrade strategies.
Deep experience building applications on either Azure or AWS using the latest CI/CD and DevOps best practices
Prior experience in building applications that leverage modern tools like Grafana for observability and performance monitoring
