Strategic Business Manager
About the role:
The Strategic Business Manager, reporting to the Head of the CCO Office, plays a pivotal role in driving strategic alignment and operational excellence across the Customer Markets division. This high-impact position supports the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) by delivering executive-level business insights, shaping strategic initiatives, and ensuring effective governance. As part of the CCO Office team, the role spans three core areas—Advisory, Strategy, and Strategic Governance—acting as a key enabler of cross-functional collaboration and long-term business success.
What you will be doing:
Drive Strategic Planning & Operating Rhythm: Support the development and communication of CCO priorities and the operating rhythm across the CCO Office and Customer Markets, working closely with leadership to embed operational discipline.
Executive & Board Support: Prepare the CCO for executive and board engagements, including speeches, events, and capability-building initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
Reporting & Insights: Lead the design and delivery of high-quality reports and insights, including the Quarterly Board Strategy update, Customer Markets Management Reporting pack, and ad hoc executive reports.
Governance & Quality Assurance: Oversee the preparation and quality control of key documents such as Board reports, strategy papers, and presentations, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and strategic alignment.
Strategic Event Coordination: Plan and support major strategic events such as Board strategy days and Customer Markets forums, ensuring seamless execution and impactful outcomes.
Stakeholder Engagement & Performance Monitoring: Build and manage key stakeholder relationships while tracking the progress of strategic initiatives, providing insights for continuous improvement and growth.
What we would like to see you bring:
A relevant tertiary qualification, such as business, economics, engineering, or science.
Governance education such as Australian Institute of Company Directors highly desirable
Demonstrates confident leadership in governance, commercial strategy, and project execution, with a meticulous eye for detail and a drive for delivering impactful, high-quality outcomes.
An influential communicator and trusted collaborator who builds meaningful relationships, fosters inclusive teamwork, and leads with clarity, empathy, and purpose.
Brings valuable experience in governance, reporting, and data-driven insight generation, with a strong background in the energy industry.
