Impact In This Role
As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you'll enhance the quality and performance of our casting and CNC machining suppliers. You will ensure suppliers meet customer requirements, manage quality issues, and drive continuous improvement. This role requires frequent travel and remote support.
Areas of Responsibility
- Supplier Qualification: Assess new suppliers using qualification forms, develop corrective action plans, and track resolution.
- Supplier Assessment (On-site Audits): Plan and conduct audits, report findings, align on corrective actions, and verify their closure.
- Supply Base Compliance: Participate in sustainability audits and ensure corrective actions are completed within the resolution date.
- Parts Qualification: Oversee the production part approval process, coordinate trial parts, and lead first article inspections.
- Issue Resolution: Manage non-conformities, lead root-cause analysis, and ensure effective corrective actions.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and consolidate supplier KPIs, address critical non-conformities, and evaluate supplier performance.
- Performance Improvement: Lead improvement actions for suppliers using DMAIC or 8D methodologies to meet customer and factory expectations.
- Process Compliance: Implement quality procedures, develop specific supplier procedures, and ensure proper use of quality management tools.
- Interfacing with Functions: Collaborate with Category teams, SCM, Technology, and Quality to support category strategies and supplier development needs.
Must Have Skills
- Casting & CNC Machining Knowledge
- Familiarity with casting processes (e.g., sand, die casting) and CNC machining operations.
- Understanding of materials used in casting and machining.
- Quality Control and Inspection
- Expertise in GD&T, measuring instruments, FAI, and SPC.
- Proficient in managing non-conformance and conducting root-cause analysis.
- Special Processes After Machining & Casting
- Knowledge of heat treatments, surface treatments, and their effects on material properties.
- Process Improvement
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma for continuous improvement.
- Supplier Quality Management
- Experience with supplier qualification, on-site audits, and performance monitoring.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and other relevant quality standards.
- Technical Documentation and Communication
- Ability to create and review quality documentation (control plans, procedures).
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.
- Compliance and Safety
- Understanding of safety protocols for casting and CNC machining.
Preferred skills but not mandatory
- Basic CNC programming knowledge (G Code, M Code)
- Basic CMM Programming Knowledge
- Knowledge of CQI 27 casting special process assessment

Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in quality engineering for castings and CNC machining.
