The Team Lead - Linguistics oversees a diverse team, manages workflows, ensures quality, synthesizes feedback, and fosters communication across global teams.
The Team Lead – Linguistics is responsible for guiding a highly diverse linguistic team across multiple markets, ensuring smooth operations, quality, and collaboration. This role combines hands-on mentorship, workflow management, and process oversight to maintain accuracy, efficiency, and team growth. The Team Lead also drives communication across global teams, translating feedback and project needs into actionable priorities while fostering an inclusive and high-performing work environment.
This role requires a deep understanding of internal workflows and processes. As a Team Lead, you’ll be expected to actively perform and master the same tasks as your team members in order to fully understand their workflows, identify challenges, and provide informed guidance and support. Because these tasks involve linguistic evaluation and analysis across multiple markets, candidates must possess linguistic expertise in at least one European language, with preference given to multilingual candidates who can navigate cross-market linguistic nuances effectively.
Major Responsibilities:
- Lead a diverse, multilingual team across multiple markets, offering hands-on technical and process mentorship; perform and review work, foster collaboration and inclusion, and drive performance and professional growth.
- Manage daily workflows, including clock-in/clock-out schedules, task distribution, scheduling needs, administrative matters and progress tracking to ensure operational efficiency.
- Synthesize team feedback and ideas into clear, actionable project tasks and priorities within internal systems, ensuring balanced workloads, timely delivery, and alignment with overall project goals and organizational objectives.
- Apply quality control methods and review processes to maintain high standards of accuracy and consistency, while continuously updating and improving training materials and onboarding resources to support new hires and ongoing team development.
- Facilitate communication between local and international (including US-based) project groups to ensure alignment and information flow. This includes reporting project status, milestones, risks, and achievements to leadership in a clear and timely manner.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Language Studies, Communication, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in linguistic operations, annotation, translation, or related project management.
- 1–2 years in a coordination or leadership role managing diverse teams or multi-market workflows.
- Strong leadership and mentorship abilities with a hands-on approach.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills, capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Solid understanding of linguistic workflows, annotation standards, and quality assurance methods.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for cross-cultural and international collaboration.
- Proficiency with workflow tracking and documentation tools (e.g., Google Suite, Jira, Confluence).
- Ability to translate technical requirements and feedback into clear, actionable plans.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency in project delivery.
- Adaptable, quick learner with interest in new tools and technologies.
- Proficiency in at least one European/foreign language; multilingual candidates preferred.
