Trading System Engineer – Low-Latency Java/Python & Market Data Integration
Job Summary
Synechron is looking for an experienced Trading System Engineer to support and enhance our Fixed Income Trading Applications. The role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing high-performance, low-latency trading systems focused on bond markets. You will work closely with cross-disciplinary teams, including traders, quant analysts, and infrastructure specialists, to deliver scalable, resilient solutions that meet stringent performance, security, and compliance standards. Your expertise will contribute to our strategic goal of delivering cutting-edge trading technology to enable efficient and reliable bond trading operations.
Software Requirements
Required:
Strong programming proficiency in Java (version 8+) and Python
Experience designing, developing, and optimizing low-latency trading systems
Knowledge of multi-threading, concurrency, and memory management techniques for high-frequency environments
Proven experience with market connectivity (FIX protocol, market data feeds) and order execution systems
Familiarity with microservices architecture, including RESTful APIs and WebSocket services
Experience with database systems: PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or equivalent relational databases
Working knowledge of cloud deployment (AWS, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
Skilled in using monitoring & profiling tools: Prometheus, Grafana, JMC, JFR, JMeter, YourKit
Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and computational complexity
Familiar with SDLC, DevOps (CI/CD), and Agile development practices
Preferred:
Experience with market microstructure and asset classes (bonds, equities, derivatives)
Advanced experience in Kubernetes and cloud-native deployment on AWS
Familiarity with low-latency network architecture and trading platform design
Overall Responsibilities
Design and develop core components of the fixed income electronic trading platform, including venue connectivity, market data handlers, order execution, and risk management systems
Continuously analyze and enhance latency and throughput, performing profiling and fine-tuning for optimal performance
Build fault-tolerant, resilient, and scalable systems supporting high-frequency trading operations
Support system deployment, monitoring, and ongoing production support activities
Conduct code reviews, create technical documentation, and promote best engineering practices
Collaborate with traders, quant teams, and infrastructure specialists to gather requirements and implement tailored solutions
Implement security, compliance, and data privacy standards specific to financial markets
Stay current with technological advancements, regulatory changes, and industry trends to recommend continual improvement
Mentor junior engineers and lead technical initiatives in high-performance trading system development

Experience Requirements
At least 7 years of professional experience developing high-performance trading or financial systems
Demonstrated expertise with low-latency, high-throughput trading applications, especially in bond markets
Proven experience with market connectivity, order execution, and risk management systems
Hands-on knowledge of cloud deployment, containerization, and performance profiling tools
Experience working closely with traders, quant teams, and infrastructure personnel in fast-paced environments
Day-to-Day Activities
Develop and optimize core trading components, including venue connectivity and market data modules
Perform performance profiling, latency analysis, and hardware/software tuning
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve technical issues impacting trading operations
Collaborate with teams to translate business requirements into scalable, reliable solutions
Conduct system testing, participate in deployment, and support live trading environments
Review code, implement best practices, and document architecture and processes
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, tools, and evolving market technologies
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
7+ years of experience in financial trading systems development, with focus on bond markets preferred
Deep understanding of market microstructure, low-latency systems, and high-frequency trading
Certifications or training in financial systems or low-latency network design are a plus
Proven track record of building reliable, performance-optimized trading platforms in fast-paced environments
