Telenor is the largest owner of Grameenphone, Bangladesh’s largest mobile network operator.

We are now looking for a new colleague in the position Vice President, Business – Investment Management Bangladesh to join the Investment Management team Bangladesh and Pakistan in Telenor Asia.

The Investment Management Team Bangladesh and Pakistan is responsible for setting and managing Telenor’s owner strategy, governance, priorities, and activities for our investment in Bangladesh and Pakistan, and involvement in the countries. For this role, it coordinates the dialog with the Management of Grameenphone.

In this role you will get a wide exposure to the Bangladeshi market and the telecom industry in the country. You will be a key team member in driving Telenor Group’s agenda in Bangladesh and an advisor to the Telenor Asia Management and our nominated directors to Grameenphone’s Board.  You will be interacting with Management of the company and senior representatives of the partner.

As Vice President, Business – Investment Management, Bangladesh you will have the following responsibility:

  • Maintain a multi-year ownership strategy and prioritise for Telenor Asia’s interest in Bangladesh, including periodic review and reporting. 
  • Monitor and independently evaluate the integration plan progress and strategy execution and provide advice to Telenor’s senior management and the Telenor nominated directors on the Board of Grameenphone on current and forward-looking development.
  • Ensure coordination of strategic operational matters arising through the Grameenphone board of directors, from partner dialog and Grameenphone’s management to ensure that Telenor Asia is appropriately advise and support the Company on selected subject matter expertise topics in coordination with key support functions in Telenor Asia.
  • Establish and drive projects and lead co-creation of deliverables with subject matter experts in Telenor Asia and from Telenor Group. Examples of expected topics are GRC, HSS, Sustainability, IT & Technology, legal and regulatory etc.
  • Drive and coordinate efficient interaction with relevant Telenor Asia’s expert functions and at Telenor Group, in line with agreed Grameenphone’s governance that enables effective processing of requests and information handling.
  • Contribute with analysis and drive collaboration with key expert functions in Telenor Asia to ensure systematic partner engagement activities, stakeholder engagement and external communication in line with the ownership strategy and value creation ambitions. 

We are looking for you who can relate to some of the following:

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration or equivalent and minimum 8 to 10 years professional experience. Added advantage for experience in leadership role.
  • Telecom industry or operational telecom experience in relevant areas (strategy, commercial, legal or regulatory).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing – in English.
  • Proactive self-starter, with proven ability to initiate and bring projects to completion.
  • An international orientation.
