Job Responsibilities
- Demonstrate ability to understanding and assessment of collateral risk. Deliver strategic business initiative presentations to senior leadership. Proven experience in leadership of a project to successful completion.
- Prioritizes and manages in ways that use resources effectively. Is decisive, communicates findings and issues and proposes solutions to business executives.
- Produces clear and succinct written and verbal communications and knows how to think through and frame messages for different levels of audience
- Determine credibility and acceptability of the valuation products of all risk levels. Work performance will include the review of the tools of the report, requesting and escalating revisions through Third Party Suppliers (AMCs, Staff Appraiser Management, Appraisal Management Companies), providing technical appraisal requirement interpretations to internal partners and communicating appraisal credibility, value support and subject property marketability to the underwriting partners. Assist in escalations from collateral analysts and independently verify certain data within appraisals.
- Understanding this is a critical role due to the complexity of the appraisals and the high loan limit and financial and reputational risk to the firm. Developing and managing staff to meet production requirements, SLA, while ensuring reports meet federal regulatory (FIRREA, USPAP, TILA, etc.), investor, and Chase requirements. Achieves and exceeds work goals for productivity, quality and turnaround time prioritizing workflows. Demonstrates a determination to get the job done right the first time while ensuring collateral decisions meet all program and product specifications. Communicate with internal and external management regarding appraisal corrections and/or feedback.
- Protects the bank's profits by evaluating collateral risk and/or fraud exposure. Reconciles findings with published guidelines to address/resolve variances and escalate collateral risk as required. Maintains awareness of changing economic conditions, new trends and developments in the local and national real estate and insured mortgage markets; and maintains current knowledge of existing laws, statutes, regulations, ordinances and policies & procedures pertaining to real estate and mortgage lending.
- Adheres to all Chase Fair Lending practices. Keep up to date on all collateral and credit policy changes that impact collateral review. Displays customer service excellence.
- Facilitate Onboarding of new employees including system access, monitor and certify accesses. Day to day oversight and performance management. Utilize analytical skills effectively manage time in support of production requirements. Achieves and exceeds work goals for productivity, quality and turnaround time. Proactively looks for ways to improve processes and procedures.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Minimum of 10 years manager experience, Minimum of 10 years' experience as an appraiser, appraisal reviewer, credit underwriter with appraisal review experience, or any combination. Extensive experience in appraisal review with a minimum of 10 years' experience including communication skills, problem solving skills, analytical skills, computer skills, research skills. Subject matter expert in the regulatory and Chase requirements to ensure the level of risk of the transaction is mitigated through property value support.
- Collaborate with management and staff in the development and implementation of all projects and/or initiatives related to operational goals and/or process improvement directives. Must possess interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with colleagues at various levels of the organization.
- Efficient work style with strong sense of urgency. Strong time management and organizational skills. Effectively communicate policy and procedure, train collateral analysts to expand knowledge and expertise to expand skillset including collateral risk tools.
- Familiarity with appraisal review tools including FNMA's CU, FHMLC's LCA, and Collateral Analytics. Demonstrate understanding and assessment of collateral risk.
- Comprehensive understanding of Chase policies and procedures, complex appraisal issues, and appraisal methodology to ensure a complete review of the appraisal(s) when approving complex collateral. Subject matter expert in the regulatory and Chase requirements to ensure the level of risk of the transaction is mitigated through property value support.
- Strong technical skills (Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Collateral Management System, etc.)
- Must possess the ability to work and research/resolve issues independently while sharing best practices and knowledge with colleagues.

- Bachelor's degree in relevant fields including business or equivalent work experience
- Licensed or Certified Appraiser license
- Knowledge of Federal and State regulatory requirements
- FHA/VA appraisal review experience
