Agnikul Cosmos, a Chennai company developing orbital-class rockets, plans to launch its operations commercially sometime within 2025, according to reporting by The Economic Times. The company’s goal is to make space affordable for people across India.

Agnikul designs, manufactures, tests and launches orbital-class rockets for sending micro and nano-satellites into space. Currently in talks with at least 30 potential clients, the company is exploring use cases for its flagship offering, the Agnibaan rocket. The solution is a customizable, two-stage launch vehicle outfitted by several 3D-printed engines with a payload capacity of 100kg to 700km in low-earth orbit.

Upon entering the market for small satellite launch vehicles, Agnikul aims to build out its operations to the point where it can launch about 25 times each year, according to the same article. It will do so from a mobile launch pad at the Indian Space Research Organization.
