NETGEAR, a U.S.-based company offering network solutions, plans to open a software development center in Chennai following a recent acquisition. The company added cloud software innovator VAAG Systems to its ranks, and its team will form the basis of NETGEAR’s Chennai workforce.
Serving enterprise clients and individual consumers, NETGEAR works to provide reliable, high-performance networking technologies tailored to users’ specific needs. Its commercial products include switches, routers, access points, software and AV over IP solutions, while many of its consumer products enable advanced connectivity for the home.
The company’s acquisition of Chennai-based VAAG Systems allows NETGEAR to in-source software development capabilities. Since VAAG Systems specializes in AI-driven network troubleshooting, NETGEAR’s new development center will focus on building solutions that leverage AI to help small and medium enterprises streamline networking.
“Networking is no longer just about being online — it’s about leveraging that connection to drive innovation, collaboration and experiences,” CJ Prober, NETGEAR’s CEO, said in a statement. “In this next era of NETGEAR, we’re stripping away complexity, removing friction and reimagining what business networking can be so that our customers don’t just keep up with change, they lead it.”
Sudarsan Vasudevan, former CEO of VAAG Systems, became NETGEAR’s VP of software following the acquisition. Vasudevan will spearhead the company’s Indian operations, overseeing plans to add 100 engineers to the Chennai team over the next 12 to 18 months.
