SES, a company operating over 70 satellites in two separate orbits, opened a center in Chennai, according to reporting by the Hindu Business Line. The Luxembourg-based company serves customers in the media, aviation, enterprise and telecommunications industries, providing them with video and data services.
Chennai’s talent base, business infrastructure, academic ecosystem and regulatory environment made the city a standout choice for SES’ expansion, the same article mentioned. The company’s new facility is located at DLF IT Park and can accommodate approximately 300 people. Though its official inauguration was on Tuesday, the center has been operating with a 200-person team in recent months.
SES plans to continue scaling, and its Chennai center will focus on general engineering functions. SES is currently working to acquire Intelsat and plans to integrate its team of 150 into the SES workforce.
