Standard Chartered GBS Opens Its Largest Global Office in Chennai

The opening is part of the bank’s effort to expand India’s role in its global operations.

Standard Chartered Global Business Services, a subsidiary of the bank Standard Chartered, has opened its largest office in Chennai, bringing together more than 13,000 employees as part of the bank’s effort to expand India’s role in its global operations, according to reporting by The Times of India.

Located in the city’s IT corridor, the new facility is designed to meet LEED and WELL building standards and features elements such as a water recycling system, a multi-level atrium, a gym and ergonomic workspaces.

GBS India is among the largest operation of its kind in the global banking sector, providing services in technology, operations, risk, analytics, compliance and finance. With this new facility, The Times of India reported that Chennai now serves as a central hub for these services, offering updated and automation-enabled workspaces for teams across functions.
