Techno Digital, the digital infrastructure arm of Kolkata-based Techno Electric & Engineering Company, announced the inauguration of its 36 megawatt data center in Chennai. The facility spans more than 200,000 square feet at SIPCOT IT Park in Siruseri.

The new data center accounts for $175 million of Techno Digital’s $1 billion investment plan for building scalable, sustainable AI infrastructure in India. Located in Chennai’s foremost IT hub, the data center can connect seamlessly to multiple cable landing stations and domestic internet networks. It is designed for weatherproof operation and sustainability, incorporating underground power cable paths and cooling architecture that reduces water consumption by 75 percent.

“We are thrilled to announce the launch of our AI-ready hyperscale data center in Chennai, a facility that exemplifies progressive technology, precision engineering and purposeful innovation, built at the intersection of tradition and technology,” Amit Agrawal, president of Techno Digital, said in a statement. “We are confident that the strategically located facility on India’s southern coast in Chennai, further augmented by our network of interconnected Edge data centers, is well poised to shape the country’s digital infrastructure with sustainable, AI-driven and cloud-optimized offerings.”
