Analytics & Intelligence - Lead Analyst (Forecasting)

Roche has established the Global Analytics and Technology Center of Excellence (GATE) to drive analytics and technology-enabled solutions in partnership with Roche affiliates across the globe. This position supports GATE projects within the Forecasting function, and the successful candidate will be based out of Chennai or Hyderabad, India.

As a Forecasting Lead, you will collaborate closely with global forecasting teams, insights partners, cross-functional stakeholders, and the broader GATE organization. Your primary responsibility is to independently lead end-to-end forecasting engagements, develop high-quality models, and strengthen forecasting capabilities that support strategic priorities and enable impactful decision-making across Healthcare, Life Sciences, and Diagnostics.

Your Opportunity:

  • Lead end-to-end forecasting projects, including scoping, methodology design, model development, validation, and delivery

  • Develop advanced forecasting models using statistical, machine learning, and hybrid techniques to address diverse business needs

  • Demonstrate strong expertise in statistical methods (e.g., ARIMA, Exponential Smoothing, regression-based models) and machine learning approaches (e.g., Neural Networks, Gradient Boosting, LSTM)

  • Fine-tune model assumptions, parameters, and components to drive improvements in predictive accuracy and overall performance

  • Adapt, configure, and optimize forecasting workflows for new datasets, ensuring accuracy, scalability, and continuous enhancement

  • Conduct rigorous backtesting, analyze deviations between actuals and forecasts, identify performance gaps, and iteratively refine models

  • Solve complex forecasting challenges through strong analytical reasoning, structured problem-solving, and model experimentation

  • Prepare, clean, transform, and structure datasets using Python and SQL to ensure high-quality inputs for forecasting workflows

  • Apply strong statistical foundations, including probability, sampling, hypothesis testing, decomposition, and anomaly detection

  • Address data quality issues such as missing values, outliers, scaling, transformations, and inconsistencies

  • Translate technical model outputs into clear, actionable insights and strategic recommendations for global partners

  • Communicate forecast results, key assumptions, risks, and scenario impacts using strong business storytelling

  • Collaborate closely with global, cross-functional teams to gather requirements, manage expectations, and ensure alignment across time zones

  • Build and Strengthen the forecasting practice within GATE by establishing standard templates, reusable assets, methodologies, and best practices

  • Mentor and guide junior and mid-level analysts on forecasting techniques, analytical methods, and domain expertise

  • Contribute to the development of forecasting accelerators, automation components, and capability-building assets

  • Drive innovation by exploring and integrating modern forecasting tools, techniques, and emerging technologies

Who you are:

  • You holds a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Economics, Life Sciences, or related fields and 7–12 years of experience in forecasting or advanced analytics functions. Preferably, you have a Master's degree.

  • Certifications in forecasting, machine learning, AI, or advanced analytics are an added advantage

  • Deep hands-on expertise in time-series forecasting, statistical modeling, machine learning, and workflow optimization

  • Strong proficiency in statistical methods (ARIMA, ETS, regression, decomposition) and ML techniques (Neural Networks, Gradient Boosting, LSTM).

  • Advanced programming experience in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, Statsmodels), SQL, and Excel/VBA

  • Proven experience conducting backtesting, evaluating model performance, and iteratively refining models using metrics like RMSE, MAPE, and MAE

  • Comprehensive understanding of statistical concepts such as probability, sampling methodologies, hypothesis testing, and distribution analysis

  • Experience working with healthcare, life sciences, or diagnostics datasets is advantage

  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt and enhance forecasting workflows for diverse use cases

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and business storytelling skills

  • Ability to lead forecasting engagements and manage stakeholder expectations
