Associate Metadata Librarian - MARC (ProQuest)

We are looking for an (Associate) Metadata Librarian to join our cataloguing team in Chennai location. This is an amazing opportunity to work on Clarivate’s existing resources, focusing on metadata and quality, to deliver high quality MARC records for our products. Please reach us if you have skills in cataloguing, editing and creating MARC.

About You

Should have a Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Library Science or similar subject.
Can be a fresher or a talent with 6 months - 1 year experience in handling, metadata, cataloguing.
Experience or ability to troubleshoot issues and interest to learn on technical aspects of the cataloguing process.

What will you be doing in this role?

Catalogue content to create MARC or other title records (copy cataloguing) and ensure appropriate subject classification for books and/or journals and videos.
Use MARC rules, cataloguing rules, Library of Congress authority files, and Dewey Decimal System to create MARC records. Import records from various sources, following the rules of automated content ingestion, to maintain the catalogue.
Use validation programs, following team documentation, in the quality assurance process. Assist in answering customer questions as needed.
Develop an understanding of the products as well as the customers using those products and associated records.

About the Team

The team is responsible for editing and creating Machine Readable Cataloguing records (MARC) using existing resources, focusing on metadata and quality, to deliver high quality MARC records for our products. Copy cataloguing and original cataloguing will be accomplished using industry standard tools and resources.

Hours of Work

Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM IST (including an hour's break)
