About the role
The Business Planning Analyst (or Corporate Finance Analyst) will provide corporate commercial analysis and specialist financial modelling advice. This role will deliver valuation expertise to support the long-term strategic planning mandates of the Corporate Finance team and will focus on:
Financial modelling: developing and maintaining integrated financial models to support investment and capital allocation decisions across the business; liquidity modelling to support capital optimization and cash management; conducting model audits and championing best practice financial modelling.
Strategic planning: modelling long-term outcomes and forecasts to support financial planning and strategy formulation; working closely with Strategy to develop headline assumptions across the business; and project evaluation and governance for investment decision making.
Valuations: producing Enterprise and Equity valuations for Board reporting; recoverable value assessments for impairment testing; and providing valuation guidance across business.
What you'll be doing
Prepare, manage and review integrated financial models that are consistent with best practice principles.
Work closely with stakeholders to derive key assumptions and source inputs, conduct stress tests and scenario analysis, forecast performance and cash flow, and align outcomes with long-term industry outlooks.
Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to guide stakeholders in key business decisions, and derive insights into business and industry trends to support long-term planning and strategy.
Report on key financial measures at an asset or enterprise level associated with performance, investment return and sources of financing.
Assist in the preparation of reports for key stakeholders including executive team members.
Extract financial information from AGL Group’s data systems for use in financial models.
What you’ll bring
Experience and training in best practice financial modelling. Ability to understand, build and navigate through complex financial models. High competency with Microsoft Excel.
Broad understanding of valuation methodologies and corporate finance theory.
High numerical ability and commercial awareness with attention to detail.
Ability to critically analyse problems, challenge assumptions, and derive solutions.
Strong communication skills and the ability to interpret large data sets and present in concise relevant detail.
Ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Experience in the modelling division of a Big 4 or equivalent consultancy practice as an Analyst or Senior Analyst (preferred, not essential).

The starting salary for this role is $120,000 (including 12% superannuation).
