Job Description

Class A Surfacing Modeler (Alias Modeler) | Product Design & User Experience (PDX) Team

As a Class A Surfacing Modeler, you'll be responsible for creating complex, flawless 3D surfaces using Autodesk® Alias® software. Your work will directly impact the final appearance of aircraft exteriors, interiors, and other industrial products. You'll collaborate closely with designers, engineers, and other stakeholders to achieve exceptional surface quality.

Key Responsibilities

Surface Modeling
• Develop Class A surfaces for exterior and interior components, ensuring they meet stringent quality standards.
• Refine existing surfaces to achieve optimal aesthetics, continuity, and manufacturability.
• Address complex curvature transitions, reflections, and highlights.

Collaboration
Work closely with industrial designers, design engineers, and other team members.
• Interpret 2D sketches or clay models and translate them into 3D surfaces.
• Iterate based on feedback from cross-functional teams.

Surface Integrity
• Pay meticulous attention to surface continuity, tangency, and curvature.
• Ensure surfaces are free from gaps, ripples, or other imperfections.
• Optimize surfaces for tooling and manufacturing processes.

Problem-Solving
Resolve surface-related challenges such as reflections, highlights, and transitions.
• Balance design intent with engineering constraints.

RequirementsRequirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Design, Aircraft Design, Automotive Design, Product Design, or a related field.
• 2 to 3 years of experience in Class A surfacing using Alias software.
• Proficiency in Autodesk® Alias® (Alias Automotive or Alias Surface).
• Knowledge of NURBS modelling techniques and surface evaluation tools.
• Familiarity with Class A surfacing principles and best practices.
• Portfolio demonstrating expertise in creating high-quality surfaces.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively.

Good to Have
• Experience in aerospace or consumer electronics.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., composite manufacturing, CNC machining).

Benefits
• The opportunity to shape the surfaces of an Indian eVTOL aircraft from an early stage.
• A compact, senior, multidisciplinary team where your work directly defines flying hardware.
• Exposure to aircraft certification, prototyping, and vendor ecosystems rarely accessible this early in a career.
