Key duties include resolving incidents, performing performance tuning, conducting database maintenance, troubleshooting applications, supporting releases, and collaborating closely with development and infrastructure teams.What You'll Bring:
The Application and Database Support Engineer is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing business‑critical applications and databases, primarily focusing on Informix, PostgreSQL, Linux Administration and application platform. The role includes incident resolution, performance tuning, database maintenance, application troubleshooting, release support, and coordination with development and infrastructure teams.
Impact You'll Make:
Responsibility:
- Troubleshoot application issues such as search failures, performance degradation, job failures, and API interface errors.
- Monitor daily operational jobs, batch processes, and service health.
- Support application upgrades, patching, configuration changes, and release deployments.
- Work closely with development teams to reproduce, analyse, and resolve defects.
- Validate new releases in UAT and support production rollout.
- Application new package deployment and debugging issue with deployment
- Monitor Informix server health, storage, logs, and performance.
- Manage Informix database operations (backup/restore, exports, table/index management).
- Troubleshoot Informix SQL query performance issues.
- Resolve connection issues for applications dependent on Informix.
- Support migration activities from Informix to PostgreSQL (if applicable)
- Provide administration, tuning, indexing, partition management, and query optimization.
- Support schema changes, data loads, and maintenance tasks such as vacuum/analyze.
- Troubleshoot connection problems, replication issues, and performance bottlenecks.
- Deploy application builds, patches, and stored procedure updates.
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix environment, shell scripting, cron jobs.
