This position is hybrid, but it includes periodic travel to Goodwill sites in our territory, as well as in-office days at the corporate office.  Therefore, the preferred candidate should live within commuting distance of our corporate office in downtown Indianapolis. The general salary range for this position is $68-$78K and includes full benefits (below).


Job Summary

The Marketing Creative Manager leads the Creative Services team and oversees the development of visual and multimedia communications across Goodwill Legacy Group (GLG). This role provides direction across graphic design, photography, videography, digital media, environmental graphics, signage, print, and other creative services as needed. This role supervises creative team members, assigns work, supports professional development, and ensures projects are completed on time and in alignment with established quality and brand standards.  This role translates marketing and organizational priorities into clear creative direction and ensures the team has the resources, information, and support needed to deliver effective work. This role oversees creative workflows, project priorities, production processes, budgets, vendors, and external creative partners while collaborating closely with Marketing and Communications (MARCOM) team members and stakeholders throughout the organization.  Although primarily responsible for leading the team and Creative Services function, this role remains actively involved in concept development, design, multimedia planning, problem-solving, and project execution when additional expertise or support is needed.


Example Duties and Activities 

  • Provides direct supervision, coaching, and professional development to creative team members across graphic design and multimedia functions.
  • Establishes individual and team expectations, provides ongoing feedback, completes performance evaluations, and supports employee growth and development.
  • Assigns projects and balances team workloads based on organizational priorities, project complexity, team capabilities, and available resources.
  • Establishes creative direction across graphic design, photography, videography, digital media, environmental graphics, signage, print, and other visual communications.
  • Ensures creative work aligns with project goals, audience needs, organizational priorities, and GLG brand standards.
  • Reviews and approves creative concepts and final deliverables for quality, accuracy, consistency, effectiveness, and readiness for publication or production.
  • Oversees the development of print, digital, multimedia, environmental, signage, promotional, operational, and internal communication materials.
  • Partners with MARCOM leadership and organizational stakeholders to clarify project objectives, priorities, scope, timelines, budgets, and desired outcomes.
  • Provides guidance and support to creative team members leading complex projects or mentoring others.
  • Resolves project challenges, competing priorities, resource limitations, and stakeholder concerns that require leadership involvement.
  • Oversees creative workflows, project intake, scheduling, review processes, and production timelines across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Determines when work should be completed internally or supported by agencies, freelancers, photographers, videographers, printers, or other external creative resources.
  • Manages relationships with creative and production vendors, including sourcing, estimates, contract coordination, quality expectations, and performance.
  • Oversees photography, videography, editing, animation, and other multimedia production involving internal staff or external partners.
  • Oversees print production, signage, environmental graphics, large-format printing, installations, and other specialized production processes.
  • Establishes and monitors creative project budgets, reviews costs, and identifies opportunities for savings and process improvement.
  • Presents creative strategies, concepts, and recommendations to organizational leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Leads environmental graphics and visual branding projects for retail, education, mission, corporate, and other Goodwill facilities.
  • Supports digital, interactive, web-based, and social media creative initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains brand standards, design templates, multimedia guidelines, creative resources, production standards, and quality-control processes.
  • Identifies tools, training, processes, and resources that strengthen the team’s capabilities and improve creative operations.
  • Maintains knowledge of design and multimedia trends, accessibility practices, production methods, emerging technologies, and organizational priorities.
  • Provides hands-on creative or production support for complex, high-priority, or time-sensitive projects as needed.
  • Travels to Goodwill locations within GLG’s service territories as needed to support project planning, content production, or installation.

Required Competencies

  • Degree and Credential Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in visual communications, graphic design, or a related field preferred.
  • Graphic Design Expertise - Has a track record of success in the ability to strategically develop, conceptualize, design, and produce effective design solutions.  Knowledgeable about preparing print design files for print vendors.  Stays relevant and current with design techniques as evidenced by a strong online visual portfolio.  Adept at utilizing Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat).
  • Creative Direction - Experienced in producing effective design work and leading/mentoring a creative team of designers, photographers, and videographers (both internal and outsourced).  Enables direct reports and co-workers to grow and succeed through feedback, instruction, and encouragement to ensure their success and the accomplishment of organizational goals.  Solid knowledge of web, digital media, and social media practices.  Knowledgeable of various printing/production processes including large format/flatbed printing, printing presses, packaging capabilities, and ability to determine best production processes for projects. 
  • Project Management (Marketing) - Oversees multiple workstreams and delivers against scopes implementing strategies that outline time, resources, requirements, deadlines, and answers to unexpected events to streamline the process and achieve successful project completion.  Coordinates production including managing outside vendor resources and ensures installation/implementation of the finished product. 
  • Planning and Prioritization - Manages competing demands by effectively organizing and prioritizing projects considering operational objectives/timelines and maintaining customer service excellence. Excellent time management, planning, scheduling, and coordination skills. Is able to work in a highly structured environment and quickly adapts to changes in priorities or deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.  Effectively navigates complex situations to ensure that tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Building Collaborative Relationships - Develops, maintains, and strengthens partnerships at all levels with others inside or outside the organization who can provide information, assistance, and support. Is able to receive as well as provide feedback to improve performance or processes; builds and maintains customer satisfaction and is adept at vendor negotiation.
  • Communication Skills - Articulates thoughts and expresses ideas effectively using oral, written, visual, and non-verbal communication skills, as well as listening skills to comprehend customers' needs. Delivers information in person, in writing, and in a digital world.
  • Teamwork - Works well with others and makes valued contributions in a team setting in order to achieve the required goals and outcomes. Contributes to creating a positive work environment that promotes productivity, mentoring, teamwork, and partnership.
  • Technical Knowledge - Has proficient knowledge of G Suite, MS Office, and Adobe Creative Cloud.

  • Travel - Is willing to conduct travel within the territory of Goodwill Legacy Group as needed for marketing support.
