About the role:

The Data Engineer plays a key role in supporting Customer Markets by developing and maintaining robust data infrastructure. This position focuses on optimizing data ingestion, modelling, and reporting to enhance accessibility, reliability, and security. By streamlining data processes, the Data Engineer enables faster decision-making and improves operational efficiency. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, they ensure seamless data interaction, empowering stakeholders with accurate and actionable insights.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Data Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Azure (Data Factory, Databricks), Python, and SQL for Data Lake/Data Warehouse environments.

  • Optimization & Security: Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize pipelines for performance, cost efficiency, and data security while ensuring governance and quality.

  • Collaboration & Support: Work with data scientists and analysts to enable BI, machine learning, and analytics solutions.

  • Automation & Deployment: Implement Agile and DevOps practices (Git/GitHub, CI/CD) to automate and streamline data processes.

  • Innovation & Best Practices: Stay updated on industry trends, drive best practice adoption, and foster an inclusive, collaborative work culture.

About you:

  • Data Engineering & Modelling: Proven experience as a Data Engineer with expertise in data modelling using Kimball methodologies, ETL processes, and data integration techniques.

  • Technology & Tools: Proficiency in SQL and Python for data transformation and analysis, along with experience in data visualization tools like Power BI.

  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Extensive experience in building and optimizing data pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouses, primarily in Azure, with familiarity in AWS, GCP, and relevant storage solutions.

  • Automation & Optimization: Strong problem-solving skills with expertise in CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and optimizing complex data workflows.

  • Business & Communication: Ability to translate business requirements into actionable insights, with strong collaboration, communication skills, and an understanding of the energy industry and regulatory frameworks.
