Hybrid work
Udemy is headquartered in San Francisco with global offices in Australia, India, Ireland, Türkiye, and other US locations. Our robust hybrid work model spans San Francisco, Denver, Ankara, Dublin, Chennai, Mumbai and Melbourne. This hybrid position requires two days per week in the office at the nearest hub.
About you
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer with a strong background in Python and SQL. The ideal candidate will have more than three years of experience in software development and demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills. A strong understanding of data handling and cloud technologies will be considered an advantage.

- We are building highly available, scalable data infrastructure, services, tools, and libraries to serve critical data discovery, ML/data pipeline development & deployment, data security & compliance, and self-healing data operation needs.
What you'll be doing
- Develop, test, and maintain cloud native software applications using Python.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new features.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and issues.
- Analyze and optimize application performance for scalability and efficiency.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of coding standards.
- Write well-documented and maintainable code.
- Explore and integrate cloud services to enhance application functionality.
- Contribute towards Udemy's comprehensive data quality initiatives like data contracts, data validation, observability, and alerting
- On-call rotation business hours
What you’ll have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years professional experience in software development using Python and SQL.
- Strong grasp of object-oriented design patterns, algorithms, and data structures
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and analytically.
- Experience with data manipulation and data-driven applications.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
