ISS STOXX is seeking an experienced Developer – Index Engineering in Mumbai, India 

Overview: 

In your new role you will be an Associate Engineer in STOXX’s index platform. STOXX operates the DAX and STOXX index families, which require an integrated end-to-end index development, production and operations platform. The platform is key to enabling STOXX to be more flexible, respond to clients faster, and reduce time-to-market for new indices.

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Engineer to join our dynamic Index Engineering team to develop a cutting-edge technical platform for indexing and data management. As part of the team, you will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of scalable, high-performance systems on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), leveraging Python, modern data engineering practices, and innovative problem-solving skills. This platform will drive our next-generation indexing systems, enabling advanced resilience, scalability, enhanced performance, automation, and quicker time to market.

As a member of the Agile team, you will be responsible for writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code while ensuring that the software delivered to production is bug-free and stable.

In this role, you should be able to work with little supervision. You should have excellent problem-solving skills. Your goal will be to develop high-quality software that is aligned with user needs and business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Platform Development: Design, develop, and maintain a robust and scalable Index Engineering platform using GCP services and Python.
  • Cloud Architecture: Leverage GCP technologies (e.g., BigQuery, Cloud Storage, CloudRun, Pub/Sub) to build cloud-native solutions that handle large-scale data processing and indexing.
  • Problem Solving: Tackle complex technical challenges related to data indexing, processing pipelines, performance optimization, and fault tolerance.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams (data science, product, and operations) to gather requirements, design solutions, and integrate with existing systems.
  • Automation & Scripting: Build and maintain automation scripts and CI/CD pipelines using Python and cloud-native tools.
  • Data Engineering: Implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of indexed data.
  • Monitoring & Maintenance: Develop monitoring solutions to ensure system reliability, performance, and security while identifying opportunities for optimization.
  • Innovation: Stay up to date with the latest advancements in cloud technologies, data engineering, and indexing solutions to continuously improve the platform.
  • Documentation : Maintain proper and up-to-date architecture, design, technical specifications
  • Proficiency in Python: Strong Python development skills with experience in building scalable and robust applications.
  • Database: Good working experience with SQL or NoSQL databases ; experience with big data technologies is a plus.
  • REST APIs: Hands on knowledge of REST APIs, atleast one python REST API framework
  • Cloud Experience: Proven experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) technologies such as BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, and Compute Engine.
  • Data Engineering Knowledge: Solid understanding of data indexing, processing pipelines, and ETL workflows, along with experience working with large datasets.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a passion for solving complex technical problems in creative ways.
  • CI/CD & Automation: Experience in implementing CI/CD pipelines, testing, and deployment automation on cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Agile Mindset: Comfortable working in an agile environment, adapting to changing requirements and delivering in iterative cycles.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with other cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure is a plus.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with distributed systems
