ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
As a Ground Engineering Architect, you will define the high level technical architecture for SES's ground systems across Platform, Modem, RF, Terminal, and Gateway domains during the early discovery phases of product development and definition. This role ensures architectural integrity, cross-domain alignment, and the successful introduction of new technologies and services for both GEO and MEO constellations. You will collaborate closely with various SES departments mainly Product & Innovation, Service Delivery, as well as Operations to translate complex requirements into implementable, scalable, and efficient designs. This role is based on Chennai, India.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY RESULT AREAS
  • Lead Ground Engineering related architectural design and technical discoveries as part of the SES product development/definition process
  • Collaborate with internal teams to evaluate, select, and integrate new ground desings and solutions as part of product development
  • Define and document system architectures including Platforms, RF, and network integration aspects
  • Develop architecture documentation including block diagrams, interface definitions, and design guidelines
  • Ensure system interoperability and performance through validation planning and technical reviews
  • Maintain architectural documentation and workflows in Azure DevOps or equivalent tools

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in satellite ground systems, covering RF, Platform, and Modem technologies
  • Experience of Satellite RF communications systems (MEO and GEO)
  • Proficiency in IP protocols, TCP, UDP, RTP, MEF, routing and switching protocols
  • Experience with Design and documentation tools, Visio, DevOps, MS Office set
  • Familiarity with link budgets, RF subsystems, and baseband platform architectures
  • Certifications in relevant technologies or systems integration are an advantage
