About the role
The Finance Analyst (Group Planning & Reporting) plays a critical role in coordinating and supporting the delivery of AGL Energy and Customer Markets' financial planning and performance management processes.
Working closely with Finance leaders and key business stakeholders, this position drives alignment across priorities, timelines, assumptions, and deliverables to ensure the successful execution of budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting activities.
Beyond reporting and analysis, the Finance Analyst acts as a trusted Finance partner, building strong relationships across Finance and the broader business to support informed decision-making. The role contributes to governance, planning, and performance outcomes by providing financial insights and translating complex information into actionable recommendations that support operational, commercial, and strategic objectives.
What you’ll be doing
- Coordinate and support the delivery of AGL Energy and Customer Markets’ management reporting, budgets and quarterly forecasts, ensuring alignment across stakeholders, timelines, and business priorities.
- Heavily involved in the planning, coordination, and execution of key finance deliverables, balancing competing priorities and ensuring critical milestones are achieved.
- Build strong, trusted relationships across Finance and the broader business, acting as a key point of coordination to ensure successful delivery of financial outcomes and facilitate informed decision-making throughout planning and forecasting cycles.
- Deliver accurate and insightful month-end reporting for AGL Energy and Customer Markets, including management reporting for senior leadership and the Board.
- Support the delivery of half-year and full-year external reporting, including the Directors’ Report, Investor Pack, and supporting analysis.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance forecasting, planning, and reporting processes through automation, standardisation, and improved governance.
- Analyse financial performance against budgets, forecasts, market targets, and strategic initiatives, providing clear and actionable insights.
- Contribute financial expertise to strategic projects and business initiatives, supporting effective planning, governance, and execution.
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Economics or a related discipline, with CA/CPA qualification.
- 4+ years’ experience in financial planning, analysis, reporting, or related finance roles.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple workstreams, manage competing priorities, and deliver quality outcomes to tight deadlines.
- Strong stakeholder management, and written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build credibility, influence outcomes, and work effectively across cross-functional teams.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to execution and follow-through.
- Experience supporting planning and reporting processes within a complex organisation.
- Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial information and translate it into clear business insights.
- Collaborative and team-oriented, with the ability to foster positive working relationships and drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Highly motivated, adaptable, commercially focused, and able to thrive in a dynamic environment.
- Experience with Analysis for Office and SAP S/4HANA highly regarded.
