About Trimble Cloud xOps

Trimble Cloud xOps is a shared services organization providing a range of operational services to various Trimble divisions. We offer public cloud access and billing, common infrastructure and security services, consulting and application operations, and a suite of DevOps tools hosted for the enterprise. As public cloud usage at Trimble is growing, xOps is focused on promoting efficient cloud cost management by providing necessary tools and guidance.

Job Purpose

We are seeking a skilled FinOps Analyst who can add value to the cloud cost management services that we provide to various divisions within Trimble. The Analyst will evaluate detailed cloud cost data, create visualizations, and generate reports to enable a cost-efficient culture within the organization. The ideal candidate is experienced in data analysis, enjoys working with cloud cost data, reservations, savings opportunities and is comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of learning different pricing models of various cloud platforms, as well as providing help and guidance to juniors in a small project team.

Main Responsibilities
  • Analyze cloud cost and usage data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for cost optimization.

  • Collaborate with the Data Engineering team to maintain dashboards and reports to visualize cloud cost data and provide actionable insights.

  • Collaborate with various divisions within Trimble including the Product, Data, and Design teams to understand their data needs and provide relevant insights.

  • Develop and implement strategies for cost management and optimization in cloud environments.

  • Monitor reservation coverage, utilization across cloud vendors and provide regular updates to stakeholders.

  • Assist in the development of automated processes for data collection, analysis, and reporting.

  • Provide guidance and support to junior team members on data analysis and cloud cost management principles.

Accountability for assignments, timely delivery, and meeting or exceeding quality requirements.

Skill Sets
  • Proficient in data analysis and visualization tools such as Domo, Tableau, or Power BI (Domo preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience working with RDBMS like MySQL, MSSQL, or Oracle, either on-prem or cloud.

  • Experience working with cloud cost management tools and services within AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  • Familiarity with cloud cost and usage reports in any of the cloud environments.

  • Familiarity with reservations, savings plan and other cost saving opportunities

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to quickly and independently learn about and apply new technologies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Upbeat, highly motivated, and self-starter.

Qualifications & Experience
  • B.E / B.Tech or M.E / M.Tech / M.S. in Computer Engineering, Data Science, or an equivalent degree.

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant data analysis experience, preferably with a focus on cloud costs.

  • FinOps certification (FinOps Practitioner, FinOps Engineer, etc..) preferred
