Group Product Manager – Operator & Site Applications Location: Chennai, India

Employment Type: Full-Time, Senior Leadership

About the Role

We are seeking a high-caliber Group Product Manager – Operator & Site Applications to serve as a pivotal strategic and operational leader in our Chennai office. In this role, you will elevate product management practice maturity, drive execution rigor, and champion global non-functional requirements (NFRs) across our application suite—including our flagship V3 Program.

Acting as the bridge between executive vision in the US, program leadership in New Zealand, and engineering teams in Chennai, you will lead local product teams while simultaneously driving site leadership initiatives to foster an outcome-oriented, collaborative tech hub.

Key Responsibilities

Product Practice & Execution Leadership

  • Directly manage and mentor Chennai-based Product Managers and Product Owners, cultivating modern, outcome-focused product practices.

  • Maintain seamless two-way communication between global sites (US/NZ) and Chennai, ensuring cross-location alignment and high-quality software delivery.

  • Drive workload balancing, continuous skill development, and strict process adherence across all local software streams.

Product Ownership – Software NFRs

  • Drive strategic execution for global Software Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) across the Operator & Site Applications portfolio.

  • Supportability & Diagnostics: Establish diagnostic tools and supportability frameworks to minimize field troubleshooting overhead.

  • Cybersecurity & Privacy: Enforce security standards (RBAC, secure APIs, encryption) and data privacy across local application releases.

  • Licensing & Access: Support commercial licensing services, enabling flexible feature-flagging and software activations.

  • Deployment Packaging: Oversee automated, zero-downtime deployment pipelines for application packages and cloud components.

Site Leadership & Operations

  • Act as the on-site executive voice, driving alignment with global corporate goals and building a strong local culture across PX, IT, Finance, and Engineering.

  • Oversee site operations, vendor contracts, facilities, compliance, and crisis management to ensure zero operational disruptions.

  • Partner with talent acquisition to position the Chennai office as a top-tier tech destination and attract industry-leading talent.

Key Performance Indicators & Success Metrics

  • Delivery Cohesion: Achieve 95% on-time release alignment between Chennai and NZ software streams for the V3 Program, maintaining an 80%+ sprint predictability score.

  • NFR Compliance: Drive compliance with global security, telemetry, and API scale standards, achieving a 25% reduction in field troubleshooting time through automated diagnostics.

  • Team & Talent Growth: Maintain local PM/PO attrition below 10% and keep time-to-hire under 4 months for open requisitions.

  • Operational Excellence: Ensure 100% site compliance across legal, statutory, and HR frameworks with zero critical operational downtime.

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven Experience: Extensive background in senior product leadership managing PMs/POs in complex, enterprise-grade software environments.

  • Cross-Functional & Global Alignment: Demonstrated success bridging distributed global teams across multiple time zones (specifically US/NZ/India).

  • Technical Breadth: Strong grasp of platform architecture, cloud/API scalability, cybersecurity standards, and automated deployment pipelines.

  • Site Management Capabilities: Experience managing operational, vendor, and culture-building responsibilities for a regional office hub.

What you need to know about the Chennai Tech Scene

To locals, it's no secret that South India is leading the charge in big data infrastructure. While the environmental impact of data centers has long been a concern, emerging hubs like Chennai are favored by companies seeking ready access to renewable energy resources, which provide more sustainable and cost-effective solutions. As a result, Chennai, along with neighboring Bengaluru and Hyderabad, is poised for significant growth, with a projected 65 percent increase in data center capacity over the next decade.
