Purpose

As an HSE Officer, you work towards safeguarding the lives of employees working at the factory in Arakkonam.  To be able to positively influence and improve the safety culture of the organization. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the Company's HSE and Quality Policies and Procedures to comply with legal and F L Smidth HSE Standards.
  • Develop, manage, and measure the company's HSE and Quality objectives and performance.
  • Maintain and improve the HSE and ISO system documents, ensuring audits and actions are carried out as required to maintain the company's accreditation to the standards.
  • Responsible for HSE within the area of responsibility
  • Initiate, drive, and follow up on continuous improvement activities by utilizing the I&I Reduction program.
  • Lead incident investigation and assist departments in arriving at the root cause.
  • Ability to train employees on Hazard identification and review departmental risk assessments.
  • Ensure legal compliance status is always maintained.  Inform plant and HSE Team Lead of any changes and their implications to the business.
  • Act as the site emergency officer, during crisis scenarios.
  • Create an HSE training calendar based on the competency plan.  Facilitate and conduct training as per the training calendar.
  • Carry out inspections, safety walks, and internal audits promptly.
  • Act as a contact person for authorities, fire brigade, and local consultants regarding HSE issues.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s in occupational health and safety / engineering / environmental science
  • Industrial Safety from a reputed Regional Labour Institute (RLI)
  • Preferable certification in BCSP / CIH
  • Minimum of 10 to 15 years experience working within the manufacturing industry.
  • Proficient in dealing with Legal compliance requirements in India, including Factories Act, etc.

Knowledge, Skill, and Capabilities

  • Strong sense of responsibility, ability to work independently, and to work in a team.
  • Ability to conduct training using powerful presentations. 
  • Good knowledge in MS Office
  • Persuasive skills to enable employees to adhere to the HSE requirements.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to interact with colleagues/business partners at all levels with different cultures.
  • Willingness to work in shifts (general and night shifts) on a rotational basis. 
  • Has the capacity to go the extra mile and provide workable solutions.
