Job Purpose :
As a key part of the infrastructure discipline within the IT Ops function in Inchcape, you will be responsible for managing our core technology systems as a product, aligning with our business goals and managing teams, budgets, planning, design, implementation and maintenance of the foundational IT environment.
The role involves managing the BAU infrastructure services function, delivering projects such as new services, mergers and acquisitions, cloud migrations and equipment refresh and budget management. While also maintaining/monitoring the existing applications and server environment in place.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: Product management, develop long-term roadmaps, ensuring scalability, and aligning IT infrastructure with business objectives.
- System Oversight: Manages Cloud, software, licences, networks, servers, storage, databases, and security systems across our global network and SaaS services.
- Security & Compliance: Enforces security standards, manage firewalls, monitors for breaches, and ensures regulatory compliance.
- Team management: Leads and mentors IT teams, fosters collaboration, and coordinates with other departments. Team Consists of Wintel, Desktop and DevOps Engineers, performance appraisals, setting goals and objectives, ensuring 24/7 on-call and support availability.
- EUC as Product: Manage end-user compute team, define technology roadmap and strategy, engage users and focus on user experience, workforce flexibility and enhancing productivity.
- Budget & Performance: Manages IT budgets, tracks key performance indicators (KPIs), and optimizes system performance.
- Project Management: Oversees infrastructure projects, including planning, timelines, staffing, and implementation.
Key Focus Areas

• Business Alignment: Translates technical needs into business language, ensuring technology supports goals.
Essential skils and Experience :
- Cloud platforms: Deep knowledge of major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, SharePoint, Windows, Linux, Hybrid, M365 (including M365 AD Sync and Entra ID inc. B2B and B2C), and AWS (Control Tower, Landing Zone, AD Sync, EC2, Backup, VPC, Transit Gateway, S3, CloudTrail and CloudWatch) DR/Business continuity testing.
- Automation and scripting: Experience with tools like Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, and Python.
- Infrastructure fundamentals: Strong understanding and implementation of best practices on Cloud (AWS, Azure) and core infrastructure concepts like networking, servers, storage, backups.
- Security: Experience with security best practices, vulnerability management, and access control. Ensuring systems are patched monthly. MFA and Conditional Access.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage projects. Be a point of escalation in and out of hours
- Problem-solving: Analytical and systematic approach to diagnosing and resolving complex infrastructure issues. Lead on Problem analysis to resolution.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders and report to senior management.
- ITIL: Familiarity with IT service management frameworks like ITIL, ensuring systems meet or exceed KPI’s and SLA’s
- Monitoring: Monitoring systems including Synthetic monitoring and RUM.
- Licensing: Experience of MS licensing and the different licensing models
Qualification :
- Experience: 8+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems, or network roles.
- Qualifications: AWS Solutions Architect, CompTIA A+. MS 365 Endpoint Administrator Endpoint, CCNA.
- Hybrid environments: Experience with hybrid cloud models.
- Databases: Knowledge of database systems (e.g., MS SQL, AWS Postgres)
- Change management: Experience with formal change control processes
Other requirements :
- Ability to travel (national and international) and work flexibility
- Able to work from home
- Able to work aligned to UK Hours
- Willing to work unsociable hours and be part of the on-call rotas.
