EquipmentShare is Hiring an Indirect Tax Manager

EquipmentShare is searching for an Indirect Tax Manager for our corporate office in Columbia, MO, to support our team as the department continues to grow.  

Job Summary: Lead and oversee the organization and execution of all activities, including compliance relating to indirect tax (e.g., sales & use, rental, property ad valorem, heavy equipment specific taxes, and fuel taxes) as well as other licensing and tax compliance requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes

Supervise team, provide day-to-day guidance and annual performance feedback and development. Also, foster a collaborative work environment.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Identify and implement improvements to internal processes relating to indirect taxes, as the Company scales, by streamlining and leveraging technology (e.g., Avalara tax software).
  • Ensure processes and procedures are in place that lead to accurate and timely reporting.
  • Collaborate with others internally, including field employees, to resolve questions or issues relating to indirect taxes. Provides subject matter expertise to support across functional teams.
  • Perform research and identify practical solutions to issues, expansion, and potential acquisitions. 
  • Prepare monthly indirect tax returns and related work papers, ensuring accuracy of payments, compliance and timeliness of filing.
  • Facilitate and manage tax audits and inquiries from state & local government agencies. Resolve issues promptly.
Required Skills/Abilities: 
  • Subject matter expert in the area of indirect taxes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized and methodical.
Education and Experience: 
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience (in public accounting or industry).
  • Degree in Accounting and/or Taxation.
  • CPA is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer.
