Provides comprehensive application functionality, configuration and support expertise for application software solutions; works with business analysts, architects, technical experts and software vendors on the solution requirements, design, configuration, functionality gap resolution, implementation, support, maintenance and enhancement of the applications.Key Responsibilities:
Leads the analysis and evaluation of application functionality; provides recommendations to increase utilization of standard application functionality to improve business processes and capabilities Leads the determination and documentation of optimum application setup and configuration to meet functional requirements and specifications; configures and verifies complex application setup and configuration Remains current on emerging application and solution trends and functionality; provides functional expertise for assigned applications and systems. Leads analysis of potential application solutions, identifying and recommending solutions to address functionality gaps in the application. Develops and maintains strong relationships with relevant vendors; works with vendors to improve application functionality and resolve difficult functionality issues Partners with process owners, business analysts, systems analysts and architects to gather, document and review functional, architecture and technical requirements and define application functional designs. Serves as subject matter expert and point of contact on content, processes, procedures and functionality associated with assigned applications for projects and application support (as needed). Leads the creation and management of functional specifications for a given project from which programs and configurations will be applied to create the program, application, or complete solution Educates, coaches, and trains new and existing team members to improve quality and efficiency in daily process of support requests. The IT Application Analyst Principal – Blue Yonder WMS is a senior technical expert responsible for designing, developing, configuring, and optimizing enterprise Warehouse Management System (WMS) solutions. This role serves as the highest-level individual contributor for Blue Yonder (formerly JDA/RedPrairie) WMS, providing deep technical leadership across solution architecture, MOCA development, performance tuning, and incident resolution. The role partners closely with operations, infrastructure, and product teams to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable WMS operations across global distribution centers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, development, and enhancement of Blue Yonder WMS (Dispatcher, MOCA, Integrator, Configurator modules).
- Own technical solutions for new warehouse capabilities including receiving, picking, packing, shipping, labor management, inventory control, and automation.
- Serve as top-tier escalation for high‑severity production incidents, performing advanced diagnostics and root cause analysis (RCA).
- Develop and optimize MOCA scripts, DDA screens, integrator interfaces, and SQL queries for performance and stability.
- Review and validate solution designs from developers and vendors to ensure compliance with standards and architectural principles.
- Lead technical planning for patches, upgrades, testing cycles, and performance validation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Infrastructure, Networking, Security, Supply Chain Operations) to design integrated, scalable warehouse solutions.
- Maintain documentation including technical designs, data flows, integration maps, test cases, and deployment standards.
- Mentor junior analysts and developers on BY WMS best practices.
- Research emerging BY capabilities and recommend modern solutions to improve operational efficiency.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field.
- 10+ years of hands-on experience supporting and developing Blue Yonder/JDA/RedPrairie WMS for atleast 2 major Greenfield or Brownfield roll outs
- Deep expertise in MOCA, Integrator, Configurator, and Linux-based environments.
- Strong SQL, scripting, and performance optimization skills.
- Proven experience supporting high-volume distribution centers with mission-critical uptime requirements.
Preferred
- Experience with automation systems, conveyor/WCS integrations, or robotics.
- Experience with cloud-hosted BY WMS or SaaS models.
- Knowledge of API management, event-driven architecture, or microservices.
