Job Description

Purpose of the role

To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. 

Accountabilities

  • Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross functional areas of impact and alignment.

  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions.

As a Java Technical Lead you will design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

To be a successful Java Technical Lead, you should have experience with:

  • A deep understanding of core Java concepts, modern frameworks and best practices for building scalable, maintainable and high-performant applications. Strong technical acumen with the ability to quickly understand complex systems, troubleshoot issues and apply sound engineering principles to solve problems.

  • Strong Hands-on experience in the following - Framework – Spring, Hibernate; UI Technologies - REACT, Typescript, HTML5, CSS, Javascript. Good understanding and working experience on AWS development and deployment. A proactive learner who stays up to date with new technologies and continuously seeks to improve his/her skills and understanding. Acting as a Java SME for the development team.

  • Leading the design process of building and evolving the service tier of the Data Platform. Design experience across multiple programmes where individual has technically lead the development. Managing development issues and escalating them when appropriate. Undertaking code reviews and providing suggestions/improvements in the code. Promote technical best practices.

  • Ensuring all the resiliency, security and operational readiness requirements are met. Worked in Financial services domain.

Additional relevant skills given below are highly valued (Desired):

  • Proven ability to design and develop enterprise level software solutions using tools and techniques such as Source Control, Build Tools (e.g. Maven), TDD, Jenkins, JMS, ECS, Kubernetes, Docker etc. Experience of mentoring team members.
