Job Description – Plant Procurement Field Executive ( Chennai / Kerala Market)
Location 1: - Chennai, Tamil Nādu
Location 2: - Trivandrum, Kerala
Department: Procurement – Plants
Reporting To: Manager – Procurement

Role Summary
We are looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Plant Procurement Executive to be based in Chennai and Trivandrum. The role is responsible for identifying and developing new plant suppliers, managing day-to-day procurement activities, ensuring quality compliance, negotiating the best commercial terms, and coordinating timely dispatches with internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Development
  • Identify and onboard new nurseries and plant growers in and around Kadiyam.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new suppliers.
  • Continuously expand the supplier network to ensure competitive sourcing and reduce dependency on limited vendors.
Plant Sourcing & Procurement
  • Source plants as per business requirements, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
  • Coordinate daily with suppliers regarding plant availability, pricing, and production status.
  • Negotiate competitive prices, payment terms, and dispatch schedules.
Quality Control (QC)
  • Inspect plants before dispatch to ensure they meet the company's quality parameters.
  • Verify plant health, height, leaf count, pot size, root development, and overall appearance.
  • Reject or recommend corrective actions for plants that do not meet quality standards.
Dispatch Coordination
  • Coordinate with suppliers, transporters, and internal teams to ensure timely dispatch of plants.
  • Monitor loading, packing, and transportation to minimize transit damage.
  • Share dispatch updates and resolve any logistics-related issues.
Team Coordination
  • Work closely with Procurement, Fulfilment Centre (FF), Quality, Operations, and Logistics teams.
  • Maintain regular communication regarding order status, shortages, dispatch schedules, and market updates.
  • Support urgent sourcing requirements and ensure smooth execution of procurement plans.
Market Intelligence
  • Track plant availability, seasonal trends, pricing, and new varieties in the Kadiyam market.
  • Provide regular updates on market conditions, supplier performance, and procurement opportunities.
Required Skills
  • Strong knowledge of ornamental and indoor plants.
  • Excellent supplier negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Good understanding of plant quality parameters and inspection methods.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple suppliers and dispatches simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and procurement reporting.
Preferred Qualification
  • Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, or any related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in plant procurement, nursery operations, or horticulture.
  • Experience working with nurseries and growers in the Kadiyam and muchisha region will be preferred.
