Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Algorithm Research & Development Engineer to work on advanced problems in optical metrology and semiconductor manufacturing. This role involves end‑to‑end algorithm development, from problem definition and feasibility analysis to on‑tool deployment, while working with minimal supervision in a technically complex environment.
- Lead algorithm research and development, including:
- Understanding problem statements and defining technical challenges
- Performing feasibility studies and concept development
- Taking ownership of algorithm design, implementation, and qualification testing
- Collaborating with software teams for integration and deployment of algorithms on production tools
- Solve problems of moderate to high complexity, requiring analysis of multi‑dimensional data and evaluation of multiple technical factors.
- Demonstrate sound technical judgment in selecting appropriate methods, models, and techniques to achieve robust solutions.
- Develop, test, and optimize algorithms using MATLAB and/or Python, with a focus on performance, accuracy, and scalability.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with global peers, including senior internal stakeholders and, when required, external partners or customers.
- Work independently on day‑to‑day tasks with limited supervision, receiving only high‑level guidance on new or complex assignments.
Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience Eligibility)
Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
- Ph.D. in Engineering or Physics
OR - Master’s degree in Engineering or Physics with 4+ years of relevant experience
OR - Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech / B.E.) in Engineering or Physics with 6+ years of relevant experience
In addition, candidates must have:
- Strong background in signal processing and/or image processing
- Proven experience in algorithm development and implementation using MATLAB and/or Python
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands‑on experience with optical systems, microscopy, or imaging‑based measurement systems
- Prior experience in the semiconductor industry, particularly in metrology, inspection, or process control
- Exposure to real‑world deployment of algorithms on hardware or production systems
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and technical communication skills
