The PositionDescription of the Area

The Customer Engagement Platforms and Services function acts as Salesforce Center of Excellence (CoE) within Roche Digital Technology. These platforms and services are consumed by others to create business facing platforms, products and services. The goal is to empower product teams to develop business capabilities efficiently and compliantly, while reducing their cognitive load and allowing them to focus on value generation. Although development and operations remain decentralized, the Salesforce CoE can offer additional services, especially to smaller organizations that may lack certain specialized skills. The team is mandated to significantly reduce unintended customization and technical diversity by partnering with the business functions using the systems and driving re-use, simplification and standardization.

The Opportunity:

  • Lead Custom Development: Act as a seasoned expert designing, crafting, deploying, and sustaining complex (cloud) software solutions within our Salesforce technology ecosystem utilizing strong full-stack expertise.

  • Drive Strategic Initiatives: Take distinct ownership of tasks and topics in the "grey zone" without defined owners, successfully leading and driving small to medium initiatives.

  • Optimize Delivery Processes: Design, manage, and continuously improve the entire software delivery process, from initial code generation to production environments (SFDX).

  • Maintain Engineering Standards: Formulate and implement technical strategies while keeping the highest code quality engineering standards, including Apex, SOQL, and Lightning Web Components (LWC).

  • Address Architectural Debt: Proactively identify and resolve complex technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and structural architectural challenges within the Salesforce ecosystem.

  • Enforce Compliance & Security: Ensure all software quality management, cybersecurity, and secure practices (such as shift-left and embedded automated code analysis) line up with regulatory expectations like GxP and ICFR.

  • Foster Technical Mentorship: Act as a technical mentor within an internationally distributed team, actively sharing knowledge and giving speeches at organizational events such as DevOps Days or Tech Talks.

  • Manage Stakeholder Strategy: Prioritize and communicate technical information effectively with stakeholders, ensuring a big-picture view where technical components align with global organizational strategies.

Who you are:

  • Experienced Technical Lead: You bring a proven track record of successfully driving small to medium initiatives at a Project, Squad, or Product level within a global context.

  • Educated Salesforce Engineer: You hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, with Salesforce Developer and Admin certifications highly preferred.

  • Full-Stack Ecosystem Expert: You possess deep frontend, backend, full-stack, and Salesforce mobile development expertise, including mastery of Apex, SOQL, LWC, Git, APIs, and automation scripting.

  • Regulated Environment Practitioner: You bring solid experience working within regulated environments, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of GxP, ICFR, and secure software development practices.

  • Quality Metrics Specialist: You are highly proficient in software quality management and performance metrics, utilizing tools like Salesforce Code Analyzer, PMD, and SonarQube.

  • Strategic Problem Solver: You demonstrate a deep understanding of the broader technical landscape (Sales, Service, Experience Cloud, and satellite systems) to formulate aligned organizational objectives.

  • Collaborative Mentor & Planner: You excel at planning and estimating work for complex tasks, navigating diverse group dynamics, and fostering collaboration through coaching and knowledge sharing.

What you need to know about the Chennai Tech Scene

To locals, it's no secret that South India is leading the charge in big data infrastructure. While the environmental impact of data centers has long been a concern, emerging hubs like Chennai are favored by companies seeking ready access to renewable energy resources, which provide more sustainable and cost-effective solutions. As a result, Chennai, along with neighboring Bengaluru and Hyderabad, is poised for significant growth, with a projected 65 percent increase in data center capacity over the next decade.
