Job Description

Trimble is seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Software Engineer (P3) to join our Cityworks AMS and PLL engineering team in Chennai, India.
This role will lead the design, development, and enhancement of our core web applications, with a strong focus on software quality, performance, and cybersecurity. You will mentor a team of engineers, contribute to architectural decisions, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality, secure software solutions.

Job Purpose

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will guide a small agile team to design, develop, and maintain software components and features for Trimble’s Cityworks platform. You will collaborate with stakeholders across geographies to plan, build, and release secure, scalable solutions while upholding engineering excellence and cybersecurity best practices.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead design and development of backend and frontend components using C#, ASP.NET, and TypeScript.

  • Implement secure coding practices and remediate identified vulnerabilities.

  • Drive architectural improvements and ensure adherence to design principles and patterns.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, support teams, and product owners to investigate and resolve software defects, emphasizing cybersecurity.

  • Improve logging, monitoring, and observability to enhance reliability and traceability.

  • Participate in and conduct code reviews, mentoring team members on best practices.

  • Contribute to CI/CD automation and deployment pipelines.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and propose innovations aligned with Trimble’s goals.

Skillsets
  • Strong proficiency in C#, ASP.NET Core, .NET Framework, JavaScript, TypeScript.

  • Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns (MVC, MVVM), and microservices.

  • Hands-on experience with SQL Server, Oracle, and query optimization.

  • Frontend experience with Angular/React, CSS, Bootstrap, and responsive UI.

  • Experience hardening applications and integrating cybersecurity principles.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/Bamboo/Buildkite).

  • Source control expertise using Git/Bitbucket.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.

  • Agile/Scrum development experience.

  • Ability to mentor junior engineers and perform code reviews.

Qualifications & Experience
  • B.E/B.Tech or M.E/M.Tech in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.

  • 6+ years of professional software development experience, including 1–2 years in a lead capacity.

  • Proven track record of designing and delivering enterprise-grade software.

  • Experience in cybersecurity, vulnerability remediation, and secure design is a strong plus.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
