About Role:
We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Modernization System Programmer to join our team, focusing on driving automation, innovation through Mainframe transformation and infrastructure modernization.
Responsibilities:
- Strategy Development: Create and implement a modernization strategy for Mainframe Infrastructure that enhances innovation, automation, productivity, and efficiency, including z/OS/ISV upgrades, PTF management, and AIOps.
- Technical Guidance: Provide expert advice and support to Sysprogs on Mainframe modernization and migration to the latest tools, such as z/OSMF, Watson X for z, AIOps, Ansible, Python, and upgrade workflows.
- Opportunity Identification: Utilize extensive knowledge of Mainframe architecture to identify and prioritize modernization opportunities.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Sysprogs, SDMs, vendors, and clients to maximize the use of our capabilities and services.
- Business Development: Partner with the sales team to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
- Industry Awareness: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments related to Mainframe strategies to maintain a competitive edge.
Required Technical and Professional Experience:
- Experience: Over 10 years of technical expertise as a z/OS SysProg, with a focus on Mainframe transformation, IBMi modernization, and generative AI. Strong knowledge of cutting-edge technology solutions and implementation methodologies.
- Upgrade Process Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the z/OS and ISV upgrade processes via z/OSMF.
- Modernization Tools: Familiarity with Mainframe infrastructure modernization tools, including z/OSMF, AIOps, WatsonX for z, ZOWE, upgrade workflows, Ansible, and Python.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adjust to changing priorities.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience:
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in Mainframe technology or related fields.
- Project Management: Experience managing complex projects and strategic partnerships.
- Global Experience: Background in working within a global organization with a diverse customer and partner base.
