Responsibilities
- Perform new CEC setup activities
- HMC controls, POR/IML, STP procedures
- Perform CEC upgrades/migration
- New LPAR definition and workload migration from one CEC to another
- IO Config changes for storage server refresh
- Participation in Project Planning meetings as technical expert for configuration issues
- Envision multiple alternative solutions and negotiate best possible choices.
- Work together with Performance & Capacity Management teams to ensure adequate resources are installed, allocated and available.
- Knowledge of all installs/deinstalls of all CPU/Network/I/O devices in the Mainframe environment
- Provide recommendations to customers regarding backup and recovery considerations
- Provide recommendations to customers regarding redundancy and high availability configuration
Technical Skills
- Ability to conceptualize, design, plan and build very complex logical and physical I/O configurations including sites involving GDPS
- Ability to use HCD dialog panels and Input Output Definition File (IODF) for creating and using I/O Definitions
- Participation in Problem determination, diagnostics and help other teams in resolving a problem involving the Z hardware
- Participation in DR exercise planning and execution
- Pre-stage all I/O gens, Performs dynamic gens as needed
- Mainframe attached Ficon director ownership
- Maintain knowledge of product capabilities, future possibilities and determine gaps between current state and desired state and develop plans to achieve
