Shape the future of enterprise productivity and automation as our Principal Engineer – Modern Workplace, where you will lead the transformation of a global Microsoft ecosystem through cloud, AI, and automation-first engineering.

This is an exceptional opportunity to influence technical strategy at scale while solving complex infrastructure challenges across a business operating in more than 15 countries. You will play a key role in driving operational efficiency, embedding intelligent automation into everyday operations, strengthening security through Zero Trust principles, and mentoring engineers to deliver innovative, low-touch solutions. If you are passionate about engineering away manual effort and leveraging the latest Microsoft and AI technologies to create measurable business impact, this role offers both technical depth and strategic influence.

FE fundinfo is a leading financial data provider, connecting the investment industry across the UK, Europe, and Asia-Pacific through an integrated platform. Our skilled team empowers clients with data-driven insights, making the industry Navigate Complexity with Confidence!

Your key responsibilities as a Principal Engineer:

  • Lead the design, delivery, and operation of scalable, secure, and highly automated solutions across our Microsoft ecosystem and cloud services – Azure, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Intune, Defender, Teams, and Power Platform – with automation as the default, not the exception.
  • Set the technical direction and engineering standards for the Modern Workplace platform, providing hands-on leadership to the Enterprise Infrastructure team and the wider engineering community.
  • Partner with stakeholders, architects, and product owners to translate business needs into clear technical specifications and measurable operational-efficiency outcomes.
  • Ensure every solution is secure and compliant by design, aligned to our Zero Trust architecture, engineering best practices, and security policies.
  • Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of complex issues – building self-healing and proactive monitoring so they do not recur.
  • Mentor and coach engineers, raising the bar on automation-first thinking and fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Research and evaluate emerging Microsoft, cloud, and AI capabilities, and champion those that deliver tangible gains in efficiency, security, or user experience.
  • Act as the senior technical escalation point for Modern Workplace and cloud services, embedding AI-assisted support and automation to resolve issues faster and at lower cost.
  • Adhere to all general security responsibilities as documented in the company security policy.

You will need the following experience and skills to join us as a Principal Engineer:

  • 10+ years designing, delivering, and supporting Microsoft and cloud solutions at scale, including 5+ years in a senior or lead role.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft and automation tooling – PowerShell, Power Automate, Graph API, Azure Policy, Azure DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Deep expertise across Microsoft cloud services – Azure Landing Zones, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Intune, Defender, and Teams – including their integration, configuration, and governance.
  • Proven track record of designing low-touch, automated solutions using Power Platform, Graph API, Intune, and Defender for Cloud to streamline operations and remove manual effort.
  • Strong grasp of cloud computing principles – security, scalability, reliability, performance, and cost optimisation.
  • Strong knowledge of IaC, DevOps, and CI/CD practices, with a disciplined approach to testing and documentation.
  • Preferred to have Certification in Microsoft technologies or cloud services (e.g. Azure, Security, or Identity).
  • TOGAF practitioner or an equivalent enterprise architecture credential.
  • Preferred to have hands-on experience applying AI and intelligent automation – such as Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI, or agentic automation – to enterprise operations.

By joining the team as a Principal Engineer, you will be offered the following:

  • 24 days holiday
  • Paid Study leave
  • Enhanced paternity & maternity
  • Statutory benefits like PF, Gratuity, etc
  • Support to set up home office
  • Health cover with option to add family members
