Description:

Striim is looking for an exceptionally experienced Senior Oracle Database Administrator with over 20 years of hands-on expertise in architecting, implementing, and optimizing complex Oracle database environments. The right fit for this role will possess deep technical knowledge across multiple Oracle technologies and deployment models, as well as a proven ability to diagnose and resolve critical performance and stability issues in mission-critical systems.

This role requires strong ownership, architectural mindset, and the ability to lead large-scale database initiatives across on-premises and cloud (OCI) environments.

Responsibilities:

Database Architecture & Administration

  • Design, implement, and manage Oracle databases across multiple versions and platforms.
  • Architect and administer advanced Oracle setups, including: Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters), Active Data Guard, Downstream & Logical Standby database configurations and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) database services
  • Plan and perform database upgrades, migrations, and patching across complex environments.

Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting

  • Conduct deep-dive diagnostics using AWR/ASH reports, ADDM, SQL Monitor, and other Oracle diagnostic tools.
  • Analyze alert logs, trace files, and system statistics to resolve complex performance and stability issues.
  • Drive proactive monitoring, capacity planning, and performance tuning for high-availability systems.

High Availability, Disaster Recovery & Replication

  • Implement and maintain HA/DR strategies using Active Data Guard and other Oracle native technologies.
  • Manage backup and recovery strategies using RMAN, including disaster recovery testing and planning.
  • (Preferred) Configure and support Oracle GoldenGate for real-time data replication.

Cloud & Infrastructure

  • Work extensively with OCI for provisioning, configuring, scaling, and optimizing cloud-based Oracle databases.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, storage, and network teams to ensure optimal performance and resilience.

Governance, Security & Best Practices

  • Ensure database security, auditing, and compliance aligned with corporate standards.
  • Document architecture, standards, SOPs, and recovery procedures.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior DBAs.

Requirements:

  • 20+ years of hands-on Oracle DBA experience managing large-scale, mission-critical environments.
  • Must have a deep understanding of Oracle architecture, internals, and performance diagnostics.
  • Proven expertise in Oracle RAC, Active Data Guard, downstream environments, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure OCI.
  • Strong ability to interpret AWR/ASH reports, alert logs, trace files, and resolve complex issues.
  • Extensive knowledge of HA/DR strategies and RMAN-based backup and recovery.
  • Solid Linux/Unix fundamentals and proficiency in shell scripting.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to operate in demanding environments
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to lead complex initiatives and mentor junior team members.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience setting up and supporting Oracle GoldenGate replication environments.
  • Exposure to Exadata, Oracle Enterprise Manager, or hybrid cloud environments.
  • Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments with mission-critical applications.
