Product Management Engineer 2

Role Overview: 

VIAVI Solutions is looking for a Smart Product Manager who is passionate about taking up ideas and bringing them to life. You will engage with our customer base directly and decide the future of the product by working closely with key partners. You will also collaborate with marketing, sales, and support to ensure that the word gets out to people and they get to see what you are building. 

As a Product Manager, you will work closely with Product Owners to coordinate the development of new product offerings and updates to existing products. You will be the bridge between Product Management and Engineering, as you work to advance the product vision. 

Role Expectations:  

A Product Manager at VIAVI is expected to:  

• Plan, manage and drive delivery for a feature space / core part of the VIAVI Portfolio of Artificial Intelligence products 

• Prototyping & execution with the right balance between innovation & best practices  

• Be able to create wireframe  

• Write clear User Stories & product requirements  

• Ability to visualize and explain complexity to both technical and non-technical audiences  

• Keen sense of ownership and accountability towards your product and team in line with your vision  

• Take new products / ideas from conception to go-live, through standard software product development lifecycle and got measurable success across defined outcomes  

• Appropriately and decisively balance pragmatism and methodical approaches to problem-solving  

• Attitude and the aptitude to learn new product area/domain quickly  

• Understanding tech debt and non-functional requirements like performance, security, etc.  

• Empathy and good listening skills to understand the needs/ pain points of your customers/ stakeholders  

• Knowledge of Agile methodologies, writing effective user stories/ acceptance criteria  

• Understanding of User Research/ Design Thinking concepts  

• Effective team player who can earn respect and trust of team members and others working with you  

• Exceptionally good written & verbal English communication skills  

• Developed a vision and/or strategy for a complex area in collaboration with peers and gained buy-in from senior stakeholders  
   

Role Responsibilities:  

• Create thoughtful and appropriate solutions to design challenges of all sizes by translating research insights into beautiful and engaging user interfaces which satisfy user needs, business requirements- and technical constraints. 

• Have accountability for features within a complex product domain, and help drive product vision, roadmap, and execution  

• Produce engaging experiences using sketches, storyboards, information architecture blueprints and prototypes to collect feedback and iteratively improve and support the design process. 

• Relentlessly seek to understand the needs and pain points of my customers and business stakeholders  

• Prioritize roadmaps with multiple optimization criteria and decisively resolve trade-offs with peers and senior leaders  

• Proactively partner with peers and senior stakeholders to help set the future direction of my product as part of the wider business strategy 

• Elicit and manage requirements in a systematic way to ensure the solution fully supports the stated business outcomes.  

• Ability to find creative alternatives to simplify solutions  

• Understand the rationale for analysis approach and contribute to deciding the agreed approach  

• Building, maintaining and prioritizing a product backlog using tools such as Jira  

• Documenting and explaining new requirements to engineers using tools such as Confluence.  

Requirements:  

This may be the right next role for you if:  

• 4+ years on Product Management preferably in consumer-facing or enterprise platforms  

• MBA from top schools with a technical background preferred  

• Previous experience in Telecom Analytics or SaaS products preferred  

• Good with Data Analysis and ability to communicate to all stakeholders including visual presentations 

• A people friendly person with extraordinary organizational and leadership skills  

• Have strong presentation skills  

• Ability to think creative and solve problem  

• Familiarity in agile development framework will be preferable.  

• Extensive experience working with design and engineering teams  

• Prior experience in development or program management will be a plus
