The Role
Morningstar's Direct Advisory Suite team is seeking a talented Product Manager to lead the planning, prioritization, and delivery of integrations that connect our industry leading advisor software with external platforms, data sources, and third-party applications. This role will serve as the product owner for the Integrations development team, working closely with engineering and cross-functional partners to maintain existing integrations and expand the breadth and depth of connectivity across the financial services ecosystem.
The Product Manager will provide market, client, and delivery insights that inform the broader integrations product strategy. Their primary focus will be translating established business priorities, client commitments, market needs, and partner opportunities into a clear, actionable, and prioritized delivery roadmap.
This person will partner with engineering, product, design, client support, commercial teams, and third-party providers to deliver secure, reliable, and high-quality integrations. The role requires strong product judgment, technical fluency, disciplined execution, and the ability to balance planned roadmap work with operational needs, production issues, and client-facing commitments.
The integrations capability enables data-in and data-out functionality, supporting reliable information exchange and connected workflows between Direct Advisory Suite and external platforms. This includes API management, data synchronization, authentication and authorization patterns, workflow orchestration, and partner-facing capabilities that allow advisors to work more effectively across their technology ecosystem.
The role will be based in our Mumbai office and sits within a global matrixed team spanning Chicago, Toronto, and Mumbai.
Job Responsibilities
Serve as product owner for the Integrations development team, maintaining a clear, prioritized backlog aligned with business priorities, client commitments, and platform objectives.
Drive the planning, prioritization, and execution of integration enhancements, maintenance work, production fixes, and new connectivity capabilities.
Provide customer, market, partner, and delivery insights to product leadership to help shape the broader integrations strategy and roadmap.
Partner with engineering to maintain existing integrations while expanding the breadth and depth of data-in and data-out connectivity with external platforms.
Gather, validate, and translate customer, partner, commercial, and internal stakeholder needs into clear product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritized backlog items.
Balance planned delivery work with integration maintenance, production support, client commitments, technical debt, platform improvements, and emerging partner needs.
Lead backlog grooming, sprint planning, product demonstrations, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies in close partnership with engineering leadership.
Triage integration issues, clarify product decisions, and coordinate stakeholders through incidents, defects, dependency risks, and delivery tradeoffs.
Establish and maintain productive relationships with external technology vendors, data providers, and integration partners.
Work with product, commercial, business, sales, marketing, implementation, and service stakeholders to support launches, meet client deliverables, and communicate integration capabilities accurately.
Track adoption, delivery outcomes, and operational performance; use client feedback and competitive intelligence to identify and prioritize product improvements.
Partner with engineering, architecture, security, and data teams to ensure integrations meet expectations for reliability, scalability, security, privacy, and supportability.
Work with content and marketing teams to develop product documentation, enablement materials, troubleshooting guidance, user guides, and Q&A content for internal teams and second- and third-level support.
Communicate delivery progress, risks, priorities, and outcomes clearly to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, computer science, business, or a related field preferred.
2+ years of product management, product owner, or related experience, preferably within financial services, wealth management technology, advisor technology, or enterprise software.
Experience in client-facing roles and familiarity with advisor and/or financial software preferred.
Experience owning or supporting software integrations, APIs, data exchange, workflow automation, or third-party platform partnerships preferred.
Technical acumen sufficient to work effectively with software engineers and architecture teams on APIs, authentication, data models, synchronization patterns, dependencies, and operational tradeoffs.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions across planned delivery work, client commitments, and operational maintenance needs.
Experience collaborating with external vendors, technology partners, and cross-functional internal teams.
Strong customer focus, with the ability to convert client feedback into practical product decisions.
Excellent analytical, planning, communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
Ability to influence without direct authority and align distributed teams around shared priorities.
Willingness to work across global teams and maintain regular working hours that overlap with North American-based stakeholders.
A collaborative, detail-oriented, hands-on approach and a strong bias toward quality in delivery.
