About the Role
Project Manager in the Operations Program Management Office is responsible for the management of key strategic projects that are large, complex and cross-functional. You may also be responsible for providing Operations representation on global project teams and leading workstreams within Elsevier-wide projects. You will be fully knowledgeable of the best practices of project management and will be responsible for multiple projects running concurrently.
Responsibilities

Provide direction and purpose for projects and project teams within remit, ensuring that project management best practices and the appropriate project methodology are employed; proactively maintain specialized project management skills.

Execute projects that deliver agreed business benefits; regularly assess progress against defined plans and stakeholder requirements.

Ensure a robust governance and project structure is in place with clear strategic alignment.

Mentor members of the project teams to achieve a high level of performance and quality. Create a psychologically safe environment and promote empowerment of the team. Ensure that each team member is fully engaged in the project and making a meaningful contribution.

Ensure that change management best practice is employed, develop effective communication plans.

Communicate progress to the steering committee and key stakeholders to ensure a consistent level of awareness, buy-in and support for change of plans.

Organise and lead project team/working group meetings; ensuring resources are agreed and roles/responsibilities are clear; prepare/distribute status updates and other project reporting.

Employ a "lessons learned" methodology to continually improve delivery.
Requirements

Demonstrate a proven history of successfully delivering multiple projects across diverse domains, showcasing the ability to quickly adapt to new industries and environments. Candidates should have experience in managing projects that not only yield tangible business benefits but also require the capacity to learn and apply knowledge in unfamiliar areas, ensuring effective stakeholder engagement and project execution regardless of the subject matter.

Be a natural communicator with excellent written and verbal skills, able to engage senior stakeholders and present technical content to a range of audiences.

Have proven experience of designing and delivering project plans and aligning project deliverables for successful execution.

Have experience of designing and delivering change management activities to maximize buy-in and minimize resistance on multiple projects.

Enjoy collaborating and leading teams to solve complex business problems and implement innovative solutions.

Have experience managing risks and issues, and taking ownership for mitigation plans on multiple projects.

Demonstrate exemplary integrity at all times.

Familiarity with project management methodologies, e.g. Agile, Prince2, Lean Six Sigma, PMP, and tools such as JIRA and Confluence is an advantage.
