Position Summary:  

The Data Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer will work on testing data transformations and data that is ingested into Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) from various domains such as Marketing, HR and Finance. 

Along with data testing in the EDW, the Data QA Engineer will work on developing automation to test large volumes of data from different sources. The Data QA Engineer Data will be responsible for test strategies, test case creation, test execution, bug tracking and ensuring adherence with compliance requirements. 

The Data QA Engineer on our Enterprise Data & Business Intelligence team will get to work on best-in-class cloud technologies (Snowflake, Fivetran, AWS, Azure, Salesforce etc) and will provide the continuous automated and manual tests that will support our teams' ability to make data-driven decisions. 

In partnership with our data engineers and analysts, he/she will serve as the point person responsible for clearing data solutions for release. 

 

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Collaborate with our BI team to understand technical design, develop & execute data quality and testing strategies. 
  • Creating reusable test automation through the use of tools and scripts (like Python, shell script etc.) 
  • Create and perform data tests 
  • Data testing in EDW, DWH and BI Report 
  • Data transformation, Data Quality, Pipleine testing of both ETL and ELT forms 
  • Monitor and own QA reporting for our corporate data stack 
  • Assist in troubleshooting data-related issues 
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations 

 

Required Skills:   

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. 
  • At least 3 years of data testing and data test automation 
  • Strong scripting skills in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java etc.). 
  • Expert level knowledge in writing complex SQLs 
  • Good understanding of QA methodologies, life cycle processes and agile development 
  • Expert understanding of test execution, evidence collection and bug tracking – have previously used tools such as ALM, Jira or similar 
  • Good experience in BI Report testing 
  • Ability to work as Individual contributor and in a team 
  • Good verbal and written communication and collaboration skills. 
  • Familiarity with data privacy and security regulations. 
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools quickly. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

 

Preferred Skills 

  • Understanding of cloud technologies in AWS or Azure 
  • Experience in a SaaS environment – Snowflake, Fivetran, Lambda, AWS, Talend, Open-Source Tools 
  • Good familiarity BI Tools – Power BI, Tableau 
  • Familiarity with DevOps concepts 
  • Unix knowledge 
  • Prior experience of using CRM Technologies such as Salesforce 

 

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent work experience
