Wilhelmsen Port Services is seeking a Release Manager for our Chennai location.

In Wilhelmsen Port Services (WPS), we provide our customers with peace of mind while we handle their cargo, their vessels and their crew. We handle 75,000 port calls per year, which means that every 7 minutes, anywhere around the world, we send a ship safely out to sea again to fulfil its purpose. We match local expertise with strict global standards, making sure we consistently make our customers’ port calls as efficient and safe as possible.

You must be a proactive and hands-on leader with a strong technical background, capable of managing and mentoring an application support team. You must be able to thrive in dynamic environments where ensuring production stability, operational readiness, and quick resolution of complex issues are paramount. With deep expertise in Salesforce and related technologies, you excel at troubleshooting, incident management, and driving root cause analysis, always collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to achieve seamless operations. You are committed to maintaining high standards of support processes, SLAs, and continuous improvement in service delivery.

The Release Manager will report to the Enterprise Solution Architect.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Own the end-to-end release lifecycle, from planning through production deployment
  • Define and manage release calendars, milestones, cutover plans, and deployment schedules
  • Coordinate major, minor, and emergency releases across the organisation
  • Establish, enforce, and continuously improve release management processes, standards, and best practices
  • Ensure alignment with change management processes and obtain required CAB approvals
  • Act as the single point of contact for all release-related activities
  • Coordinate across multiple Agile teams, vendors, and business units
  • Communicate release scope, risks, timelines, and status to senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Identify and resolve release conflicts and dependency issues
  • Manage deployments across DEV, QA, UAT, Pre-Prod, and PROD environments
  • Oversee deployment readiness, including go/no-go decisions and rollback planning
  • Partner with DevOps teams to automate build and deployment pipelines
  • Ensure environment stability and availability during release activities
  • Identify release risks and define mitigation strategies
  • Ensure defined quality gates are met, including testing sign-offs, security checks, and performance validation
  • Maintain audit trails, release documentation, and compliance artefacts, including for regulated environments
  • Drive process improvements to improve release predictability, quality, and efficiency
  • Track and analyse release metrics, including deployment frequency, failure rates, and roll back rates

Qualification, Experience and Skills

  • 10+ years of overall IT experience, with 5+ years in Release Management roles
  • Strong experience managing large-scale, multi-team releases
  • Hands-on experience working in Agile and Scrum environments
  • Deep understanding of the SDLC and enterprise change management practices
  • Experience with release and change management tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, and ServiceNow
  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce CI/CD and deployment tools, including Flosum, Copado, ANT, and Change Sets
  • Strong understanding of version control systems and branching strategies
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Strong risk management, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage high-impact, time-sensitive releases
  • Demonstrates a leadership mindset with strong coordination and execution skills

  • Salesforce Certified Advanced Administrator
  • Salesforce Certified Sales Cloud Consultant
  • Salesforce Certified App Builder
