About the Role:
We're searching for a Senior Accountant to join Remitly's Global Accounting Operations team. As a senior accountant on the Accounting team, you will be a key contributor to the company's financial statements by supporting the month-end close process and ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
You Will:
- Prepare payroll-related journal entries for the general ledger across multiple subsidiaries.
- Reconcile payroll-related accounts, including wages payable, payroll taxes, and benefits expenses.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing activities related to payroll.
- Prepare and file monthly tax returns in compliance with local regulations.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll operations and efficiency.
- Support ad hoc financial information requests, audit requests, and special projects as assigned.
- Analyze trends and variances in payroll-related accounts and financial system outputs.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures, maintaining proper audit trails for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure accurate accounting for monthly accruals and new business initiatives.
You Have:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting and 3+ years of experience
- Payroll Accounting Experience is a plus
- Knowledge of US GAAP required
- Strong technical accounting background
- Experience with streamlining processes and/or design and implementation of accounting policies, automation and procedures
- Experience working in NetSuite or similar ERP systems is a plus
- Experience analyzing and working with large data sets and familiarity with data management tools such as Excel and Alteryx
- Strong alignment to our mission and values
