Job Summary
Synechron is seeking a skilled and experienced Calypso Developer to join our dynamic team. This role is central to the development, customization, and enhancement of our Calypso platform, focusing on key financial instruments such as Fixed Income, Derivatives, Money Markets, Advances, Letters of Credit, and Equity products. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to the organization’s business objectives by ensuring seamless migrations, upgrades, and integrations, driving innovation, and optimizing operational effectiveness. This role provides an opportunity to work on complex, high-impact projects that support our clients’ financial operations and strategic growth.
Software Requirements
- Strong expertise in Calypso Development, including end-to-end upgrade projects (preferably Calypso v18 and above).
- Advanced proficiency in Java, PL/SQL, and Linux.
- Hands-on experience with core Calypso modules including Pricing, Accounting, ERS, Workflows, Reporting, Task Station, and Scheduled Tasks.
- Exposure to Jenkins and modern CI/CD practices.
- Familiarity with Cloud technologies and cloud-based system integrations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement scalable Calypso solutions for a wide range of financial products including Fixed Income, Derivatives, Money Markets, Advances, Letters of Credit, and Equities.
- Lead and support Calypso upgrade initiatives and migration from legacy systems to newer Calypso versions.
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Develop, customize, and maintain Calypso modules, interfaces, and integrations to enhance system capabilities.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve Calypso-related technical issues to ensure high system availability and stability.
- Continuously optimize system performance while ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
- Maintain detailed technical documentation covering development activities, configurations, and delivered solutions.
- Essential: Java, PL/SQL
- Preferred: Linux scripting (Shell scripting)
- Strong hands-on experience using PL/SQL for database development and management.
- Preferred: Exposure to cloud platforms and integration approaches.
- Proven experience with Calypso development frameworks and tools.
- Essential: Good understanding of Calypso development environments and methodologies.
- Preferred: Experience with Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of security standards and controls applicable to financial systems is an added advantage.
- Minimum 10 years of overall IT experience, with at least 5 years of hands-on Calypso development and migration experience.
- Practical experience working with Calypso version 16.1 or higher.
- Strong domain knowledge of financial products and back-office functions including SWIFT messaging, settlement processing, and accounting.
Day-to-Day Activities
- Lead the design, development, and testing of solutions for relevant financial products within Calypso.
- Participate in regular meetings with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to align project goals.
- Manage project deliverables including upgrades, custom module development, and system migrations.
- Exercise technical decision-making authority to determine solutions and project approaches.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements proactively.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in Calypso or complementary technologies are advantageous.
