About the role

An exciting new position has become available for a Senior Finance Analyst to join AGL and partner with our Energy Markets & Development portfolio.

This role sits at the heart of AGL’s Environmental Markets (ECO) and Decentralised Energy Resources (DER) portfolios, transforming complex financial information into clear, commercial insight. As a trusted strategic finance partner, you will work closely with stakeholders to challenge assumptions, highlight key value drivers, and shape operational and strategic outcomes.

What You’ll Be Doing

Financial Planning & Analysis
• Deliver high-quality monthly performance reporting for Eco and DER portfolios, including insightful variance analysis and clear, decision-focused management commentary.
• Lead the preparation of quarterly forecasts, annual budgets, and four-year plans across P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cashflow.
• Consolidate & present monthly and quarterly performance and forecasting outputs in line with Group timetables, ensuring consistency, and accuracy.

External Management Reporting

• Support preparation & commentary of disclosures for Operating Financial Reports (OFR) and Portfolio Management Reporting (PMR).
• Assist data and analysis for ad-hoc requests from external regulators and stakeholders (e.g. ACCC, ABS, ATO).
• Assist with responses to external auditor queries and support audit processes as required.

Finance Business Partnering
• Act as a finance representative and trusted business partner to Energy Markets & Development stakeholders, with a focus on Environmental Markets and DER activities.
• Provide commercial and financial analysis to support execution of business strategy and operational decision-making.
• Prepare and contribute to finance updates and presentations for leadership and governance forums.
Projects & Analysis
• Support Eco and DER initiatives through financial modelling, scenario analysis, and post-implementation performance tracking.
• Provide insight into major performance drivers, risks, and opportunities across trading, compliance, and DER activities.
Continuous Improvement & Team Contribution
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve, streamline, and strengthen financial processes, controls, and reporting quality.
• Support and mentor finance analysts on complex issues and deliverables.
• Contribute to team meetings, engagement initiatives, and broader finance capability uplift.

What You’ll Bring
 

  • CA or CPA qualified (desirable).

  • Ideally 5+ years post-qualification experience in financial reporting, forecasting, and financial performance management.

  • Exposure to large, complex/listed organisations and/or energy markets, trading, or environmental markets is highly desirable.

  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to translate business drivers into financial insights.

  • Experience in month end close and external reporting.

  • Demonstrated experience in financial modelling with Excel & ERPs (SAP preferred).
