Position Summary
The Senior Manager – Application Engineering leads the global application engineering interface for CIRCOR Industrial Valves, driving technical excellence, commercial competitiveness, and strategic business growth. Along with leading customer solutions and proposal development, this role plays a pivotal part in Booking Budget planning, market‑based sales strategies, New Product Development insights, and global coordination across CIRCOR manufacturing sites.
The role ensures standardized processes, accurate technical deliverables, and strong cross‑functional alignment across Sales, Engineering, SIOP, Product Management, and Operations to support profitable growth and customer satisfaction.
Principal Activities
- Strategic & Business Responsibilities
- Provide inputs for annual Booking Budget preparation, including product mix, regional demand outlook, and key business drivers.
- Formulate sales strategies for different global markets, aligning application engineering insights with Sales & Product Management to drive market penetration and share gain.
- Identify common markets, applications, and opportunities through active collaboration with Global Application Engineering and Sales Teams across other CIRCOR manufacturing sites.
- Offer insights and recommendations for New Product Development (NPD) that support expansion into existing and emerging markets.
- Support strategic business decisions including portfolio optimization, competitive benchmarking, and pricing strategy refinement.
- Technical & Application Engineering Responsibilities
- Oversee the sizing, selection, and configuration of control valves, desuperheaters, steam conditioning systems, and high‑energy applications.
- Lead technical proposal activities for standard and engineered‑to‑order products, ensuring accuracy, feasibility, and profitability.
- Ensure adherence to international standards, customer specifications, and engineering best practices.
- Handle complex technical queries, pre‑bid and post‑bid clarifications, and customer discussions.
- Drive consistency in application engineering processes across regions and product lines.
- Global Coordination & Cross‑Functional Responsibilities
- Engage with Global Sales teams to identify common customer needs and cross‑site collaboration opportunities.
- Work closely with Supply Chain, Operations & SIOP teams on:
- Monthly/quarterly Inventory Forecasting
- Demand planning inputs
- Lead‑time optimization and product availability improvements
- Collaborate with Quality & Engineering teams for customer product complaint resolution, data analysis, corrective action tracking, and field issue support.
- Participate in SIOP forums to align sales forecasts, backlog planning, and capacity considerations.
- Leadership & Team Development
- Set, measure, and monitor KPIs for the Application Engineering Team, including:
- Quote turnaround time
- Win/Loss ratio
- Pipeline conversion
- Profitability metrics
- Technical accuracy and error rate
- Customer responsiveness and quality of proposals
- Build a high‑performing team through coaching, training, and competency development.
- Drive process improvements, digital enablement, and standardization across AE deliverables.
- Oversee documentation management, quotation logs, compliance records, and knowledge-sharing repositories.
- Customer & External Engagement
- Interface with EPCs, consultants, OEMs, end users, distributors, and channel partners to understand applications and deliver optimized solutions.
- Support Public Tender activities including bid preparation, techno‑commercial documentation, and GeM portal compliance.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through proactive engagement, timely resolution of technical queries, and support during project execution.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Technical Expertise
- Strong knowledge of international standards for control valves, steam conditioning systems, and severe‑service applications.
- In‑depth understanding of materials, design considerations, and valve selection principles.
- Broad exposure to power, process, and industrial applications with reputed valve manufacturers.
- Experience in application engineering, bid management, and cross‑functional technical collaboration.
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence cross‑functional and global stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and decision‑making skills.

Education & Experience
Education: BE in Mechanical / Instrumentation Engineering
Experience: 15+ years in the control valve industry with substantial experience in Application engineering, handling both domestic & international customers. Exposure to public tenders, GeM processes, and large EPC project management is preferred.
