Research & Innovation develops concepts that advance mobile networks and drive their adoption in international standards. We are seeking a Senior Standardization Specialist to strengthen our 6G Core Network activities. In this role, you will develop technical concepts and contribute to 3GPP CT1 standardization, with a focus on NAS protocol development. Working across research, product, and standards organizations, you will turn innovations into technically sound proposals, intellectual property, standards contributions, and future product capabilities.
ResponsibilitiesLead Nokia’s 6G standardization activities in the area of UE-to-Core Network architecture and protocols, representing Nokia as a delegate in 3GPP CT1.
Drive the development of innovative end-to-end architecture, features, and protocol solutions for 6G networks.
Collaborate closely with research teams to translate Nokia research concepts into coherent and impactful 6G standards.
Generate high-value intellectual property and ensure successful adoption of patented innovations within 3GPP specifications.
Shape Nokia’s 6G technology and standards strategy in the architecture domain, aligned with business objectives and ecosystem evolution.
Build technical consensus across internal and external stakeholders and influence key industry decisions.
MSc degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Extensive expertise in 5G and/or 6G mobile communication systems, with strong knowledge of mobile core network architecture and protocols developed within 3GPP.
Experience in standardization work (e.g. 3GPP) and patent creation.
Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work effectively across research, product, and standards organizations in a global environment.
Familiarity with AI driven methodologies, including data driven and agentic workflows.
Fluent in English, both spoken and written
