Develops complex, customized elevator equipment solutions for global development projects. Analyzes contracts and technical requirements, selects products, designs components, creates engineering outputs, considers cost, safety, and sustainability, and coordinates with global engineering stakeholders. May lead cross-functional projects or serve as chief design engineer for major projects, while reviewing work, reporting progress, and ensuring customer specifications are met.

- May lead global development cross-functional engineering projects from several viewpoints.
- May make management decisions as substitute for management and typically can take be substitute for a manager.
- Has knowledge and understanding of KONE global equipment offering, technical design, structure and details and of the technical strengths and limitations of products.
- Analyses contracts and specifications for equipment and selects the right products for the required solution.
- Designs highly demanding customized solutions.
- Cost understanding of solutions and components.
- Takes safety aspects into account and designs environmentally sustainable solutions when possible.
- As a member of a global engineering team, shares his/her knowledge and skills with colleagues and participates actively in meetings and workshops.
- May play the role of Chief Design engineer for supporting Major Projects
- Analyses technical requirements and identifies possible solutions
- Selects the optimal product/solution that meet the customer needs
- Clarifies with relevant stakeholders in case of unclear requirements and decides the solution
- Designs the solutions and/or components to meet customer specific requirements
- Creates drawings, engineering structures or other relevant outputs for the solution
- Understands basic cost levels of different components and solutions and utilizes cost knowledge in his/her work
- Takes all design relevant aspects into account when making engineering designs, like:
- Self-checks outputs of his/her own work. Participates in checking of colleagues’ work outputs.
- Reports his/her work progress on a timely basis
- Communicates deviations from the given customer specification and passes outputs of his/her work to relevant parties on time
Performance measures
· Punctuality – service actual finish date vs planned finish date
· Response time – service duration in calendar days from opened to completed
· Productivity – service used hours vs planned hours
· Quality – First Pass Yield and Warranty Claims
· Development project specific targets
